The game, which had a slower launch than the publisher would have liked due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/monster-hunter-wilds-january-2026-performance-update-released\">on-going performance issues<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/monster-hunter-wilds-patch-1-041-final-update-full\">a delayed endgame<\/a>, has<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/monster-hunter-wilds-sales-have-plummeted-lagging-behind-even-the-last-games-dlc-and-a-two-year-old-street-fighter-game\"> not been a massive success for Capcom<\/a> &#8211; even 2021&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/games\/monster-hunter-rise\">Monster Hunter Rise<\/a> outsold it at the end of last year.<\/p>\n<p>But Capcom wants that to change. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capcom.co.jp\/ir\/english\/data\/result.html\">In the latest investor&#8217;s repor<\/a>t, Capcom said it wants to &#8220;drive its total unit sales beyond those of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/games\/monster-hunter-world\">Monster Hunter: World<\/a> over the medium to long term&#8221;. Given that Capcom only recently announced that Monster Hunter: World has sold over 30m units worldwide &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/monster-hunter-world-30-million-sales\">making it Capcom&#8217;s &#8220;best-selling single title of all time&#8221;<\/a> &#8211; Wilds has a long, difficult path ahead. This 2018 game sold  25m copies as of 2024, incidentally, so we can deduce that 5m copies were sold over the past two years. First off are technical improvements: &#8220;ongoing enhancements to the technical performance of Monster Hunter Wilds have led to sales for the game improving,&#8221; Capcom stated in the report. There have already been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/monster-hunter-wilds-patch-1-041-final-update-full\">significant updates<\/a> to the game, with the so-called &#8216;final&#8217; update for the base game particularly notable in terms of performance fixes and quality-of-life improvements.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"injection_placeholder\" data-position=\"1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Perhaps this is why Capcom launched a free &#8211; and generous &#8211; demo for Wilds yesterday.
