Isaac del Toro extended his contract with UAE Emirates-XRG through 2031 on Thursday to give Tadej Poga\u010dar\u2018s superteam a lock on the Tour de France podium for two more years.<\/p>\n
Del Toro, third overall at this year\u2019s Tour, had been signed with UAE through 2029 until the marquee extension Thursday.<\/p>\n
There had been rumor the 22-year-old\u2019s long-term future at the world\u2019s biggest bike team was in balance due to its ongoing interest in French phenom Paul Seixas.<\/p>\n
Not so.<\/p>\n
UAE Emirates-XRG pulled the strings to secure the world\u2019s third UCI-ranked rider for at least five more seasons.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m very happy to continue this journey with UAE Team Emirates-XRG,\u201d Del Toro said in a press note Thursday. \u201cFrom the moment I joined the team, everybody has believed in me and given me the best environment to develop as both a rider and a person.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery season I\u2019ve learned something new from my teammates and the people working around me, and I feel that I\u2019m improving all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is one of the most impactful moves so far of the 2026-27 \u201csilly season\u201d of rider transfers and extensions.<\/p>\n
Del Toro is one of the hottest young talents in the WorldTour.<\/p>\n
The Mexican has charted an exponentially upward trajectory since he burst onto the scene when he won the 2023 Tour de l\u2019Avenir.<\/p>\n
After a near miss at the 2025 Giro d\u2019Italia, \u201cTorito\u201d has obliterated almost everything in front of him.<\/p>\n
He won 9 one-day races in less than two months last autumn and has been on a tear through 2026.<\/p>\n
He won the overall at UAE Tour, Tirreno-Adriatico, and Tour-Auvergne-Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes, and was Poga\u010dar\u2019s right-hand man through the Tour de France.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s only a matter of time before the fast-finishing Mexican wins a grand tour.<\/p>\n

With Poga\u010dar signed through 2030 and Jo\u00e3o Almeida on the books through 2028, UAE Emirates-XRG could be dominating the WorldTour for some time longer.<\/p>\n
The possible arrival of Seixas would give it an embarrassment of riches.<\/p>\n

Del Toro will have to carve his place in the team\u2019s busy GC hierarchy.<\/p>\n
With a contract through 2031, he\u2019s got plenty of time to do it.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis team feels like home. We share the same ambition, the same passion for racing and the same desire to keep getting better,\u201d Del Toro said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSigning long-term gives me a lot of confidence because I know I\u2019m in the right place for my future. We\u2019ve already achieved some amazing victories together, but I honestly believe the best is still to come,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m excited to keep growing with this team and fighting for the biggest races in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Del Toro\u2019s program for the remainder of 2026 is unknown.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s not part of Poga\u010dar\u2019s support crew for the Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a but will likely be targeting the Montr\u00e9al road worlds and a series of the autumn classics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
