To say they\u2019ve levelled up is quite the understatement. Take album centrepiece \u2018Therapy At The Club\u2019, where they reunite with singer-songwriter Amma (co-writer of 2024\u2019s \u2018Shoulda Woulda Coulda\u2019) for old-school girl group vibes with silky harmonies and lyrics that cut deep (<i>\u201cGo run your mouth to a stranger \/ \u2019Cause their arms feel safer \/ Than telling the man that you love\u201d<\/i>). Leading the charge is their viral hit \u2018Leak It\u2019, which is reminiscent of the best of 2000s British girl groups, but electric guitar-driven bad bitch anthem \u2018Touch\u00e9\u2019 and its fun chorus (<i>\u201cI\u2019m a cunt, I\u2019m a bitch, I\u2019m the shit, I must say\u201d<\/i>), high-energy banger \u2018Remedied\u2019 and \u201980s synth-pop closer \u2018Haterbooth\u2019 all give it a run for its money.<\/p>\n<p>With so many cooks in the kitchen, some questionable impulses go unchecked \u2013 especially in the album\u2019s second half. \u2018Pose\u2019 sounds as dated as its misguided \u2018Pump Up The Jam\u2019 sample, while \u2018Sex In Peace\u2019 is simultaneously sleepy and too busy \u2013 beatbox production, ad-libs galore and one too many vocal stacks \u2013 and wastes a perfectly good Kwn feature. And even though ballads \u2018Floating\u2019 and \u2018Miss U Missing Me\u2019 are lovely vocal showcases, they can be a slog to get through. The album\u2019s cohesion suffers as a result of its scattershot direction, even if their mainstream ambitions have led them to undeniable pop gems.<\/p>\n<p>Much like an actual night out, after a fun start, things get messy, alcohol blurs the memory, and \u2018Therapy At The Club\u2019 becomes disjointed at the end.
