monumental first WTA Tour title at the Washington Open.<\/p>\n<p>Eala defeated Jessica Pegula to claim her first WTA title and she now faces a quick turnaround to get ready for the Canadian Open.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament had already begun when Eala played Pegula in the final, after Washington storms ensured the match was played a day later than planned.<\/p>\n<p>Eala is set to play Alycia Parks in her second round match and it is planned to take place on Wednesday, 5th August\u2019s order of play at the Masters event.<\/p>\n<p>There had already been whispers of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/alex-ealas-popularity-compared-to-serena-williams\">Eala\u2019s popularity at the Canadian event, as she has been compared to Serena Williams<\/a>, but now we know how many tickets she has sold.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on The Tennis Channel, as reported by <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Gill_Gross\/status\/2084675450937479618?s=20\" target=\"_blank\">Gill Gross<\/a>, Canadian Open tournament director Karl Hale has confirmed where Eala will be playing her first match.<\/p>\n<h2>More Alex Eala news<\/h2>\n<p><a in Toronto. \u201cWe can\u2019t put her on there because she probably sold upwards of 5,000 tickets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The main court at the Canadian Open\u2019s Toronto site is Sobeys Stadium, which holds 12,500 spectators, so there is plenty of opportunity for Eala\u2019s fans to pack it out.<\/p>\n<p>The likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/iga-swiatek\">Iga Swiatek<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/aryna-sabalenka\">Aryna Sabalenka<\/a> have already played on it this year, so it\u2019s testament to Eala\u2019s popularity that she is currently on par with the biggest players on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/WTA-Tour\">WTA Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second tournament in a row that has seen a surge in demand for tickets when Eala is playing.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Open said tickets for Eala\u2019s matches had surged by \u2018at least 80%, if not more\u2019, according to tournament director Mark Ein.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonestly, I think it\u2019s more, and they just didn\u2019t want to say it was more, but they\u2019re, like, virtually all. It\u2019s not an exaggeration,\u201d continued Ein.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s actually what they tell me. When you look at the amazing players here and how many great stars there are, it says something about Alex\u2019s following.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously she\u2019s been an icon, become an icon in the Philippines, but worldwide.
