final, according to Google AI.<\/p>\n<p>The showpiece clash at the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center was heavily affected by rain with the start of the match pushed back by several hours on Sunday afternoon due to thunderstorms.<\/p>\n<p>When play eventually started, favourite Pegula edged the opening set 6-4 courtesy a break in game nine while they were on serve in the second set with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/alex-eala\">Eala<\/a> leading 2-1 when it started raining again.<\/p>\n<p>With the rain and lightning continuing, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/wta-tour\/jessica-pegula-v-alex-eala-time-final-resume-rain-washington-dc-weather-forecast\">organisers eventually called off the match<\/a> for the night with the score 6-4, 1-2.<\/p>\n<p>And that was when Google AI took over as those who searched \u201cPegula vs Eala\u201d on Sunday evening and Monday morning were told that the American won the match and it even gave a final score with the headline reading: \u201cJessica Pegula won the 2026 Mubadala DC Open singles titles, defeating Alexander Eala 6-4, 6-3 in the final.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>WTA News<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-features\/who-alex-ealas-coach-washington-open-champions-confidant-masterminding-rise\">Who is Alex Eala\u2019s coach? My first chance at a title knowing it won\u2019t be the last and \u200balready having achieved this milestone for my career,\u201d Eala said on court. \u201cI knew whatever happened after this match would have been already been a win for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/alex-eala-first-wta-title-of-her-career-at-the-washington-open\">She even praised Pegula\u2019s forehand<\/a> so maybe that\u2019s why Google AI had a premonition that about the championship point won by Pegula.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cirst of all, of course, first and foremost congratulations Jessie for an amazing week and you\u2019ve had an amazing season.
