It came shortly after the band released the synth-y standalone singles \u2018Boy\u2019\u00a0and\u00a0\u2018Your Side Of Town\u2019 (both produced by\u00a0Stuart Price).<\/p>\n<p>These songs were meant to feature on a new Killers album, but the project was ultimately scrapped because it didn\u2019t feel \u201cauthentic\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span><\/div>\n<p>\u201cHalfway through recording I realised, \u2018I can\u2019t do this\u2019,\u201d Flowers said at the time. \u201cThis isn\u2019t the kind of record [\u2026] I don\u2019t think you\u2019ll see us making this type of music any more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the crisis I\u2019m in. The Killers are my identity and our songs fill the seats, but I\u2019m more fulfilled making music like [2021 album] \u2018Pressure Machine\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another song, the euphoric and trance-y \u2018Spirit\u2019, ended up appearing alongside \u2018Boy\u2019 and \u2018Your Side Of Town\u2019 on a greatest hits compilation called \u2018Rebel Diamonds\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Flowers has already shared two singles from his forthcoming new solo album, \u2018Plans\u2019 and \u2018Paradise\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Recorded in Nashville, the country-inspired album was made with the singer\u2019s longtime producers Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado, as well as guitarist David Rawlings, pedal steel player Bruce Bouton, and 85-year-old Charlie McCoy (the harmonica player who featured on all four of\u00a0Bob Dylan\u2019s\u00a0Nashville records).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3952765\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3952765\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3952765\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/BRANDON_FLOWERS_2026_ChrisPhelps.jpg\" alt=\"Brandon Flowers. He looks back on how his father would drive him around the countryside listening to\u00a0Johnny Cash\u00a0and\u00a0Waylon Jennings\u00a0on the record.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Thrasher\u2019 is said to find the vocalist at his most personal and vulnerable, delving into a chapter of his life that he\u2019s rarely written about before, and reminiscing about these formative years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I\u2019ve gotten older, I\u2019ve found my way back to my father\u2019s music \u2013 \u2018Country-Western\u2019 (as he called it) \u2013 and discovered that the stories I carry really feel most at home in the skin of this beautiful American tradition,\u201d Flowers said in a previous statement.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll take \u2018Thrasher\u2019 out on\u00a0a UK, Ireland and North American solo tour\u00a0later this year. One is a romantic South West record, and the other is a narrative South West record which picks up where \u2018Pressure Machine\u2019\u00a0left off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m thrilled about both of them, and they\u2019ll both come out before the next Killers record \u2013 but I\u2019m thrilled about the next Killers record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for future material from the Las Vegas band, Flowers told\u00a0<i>NME<\/i>\u00a0it was \u201ca little too early to say\u201d what their next era would sound like. However, he revealed that they wouldn\u2019t be returning to the slick, synth-y style of their recent Stuart Price-produced singles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will not put it out unless it is the best,\u201d the frontman said. \u201cWe\u2019ve already discussed it. It\u2019s gotta be so good or it\u2019s not worth it.\u201d He then confirmed that the new music would feature \u201call four members\u201d, after they reunited for the 2024 track \u2018Bright Lights\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Flowers debuted some new solo material and joined\u00a0Lucy Dacus\u00a0and\u00a0Nathaniel Rateliff\u00a0at\u00a0Newport Folk Festival last month, while also dusting off some Killers classics. It came shortly after the band released the synth-y standalone singles \u2018Boy\u2019\u00a0and\u00a0\u2018Your Side Of Town\u2019 (both produced by\u00a0Stuart Price).<\/p>\n<p>These songs were meant to feature on a new Killers album, but the project was ultimately scrapped because it didn\u2019t feel \u201cauthentic\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span><\/div>\n<p>\u201cHalfway through recording I realised, \u2018I can\u2019t do this\u2019,\u201d Flowers said at the time. \u201cThis isn\u2019t the kind of record [\u2026] I don\u2019t think you\u2019ll see us making this type of music any more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the crisis I\u2019m in. The Killers are my identity and our songs fill the seats, but I\u2019m more fulfilled making music like [2021 album] \u2018Pressure Machine\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another song, the euphoric and trance-y \u2018Spirit\u2019, ended up appearing alongside \u2018Boy\u2019 and \u2018Your Side Of Town\u2019 on a greatest hits compilation called \u2018Rebel Diamonds\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Flowers has already shared two singles from his forthcoming new solo album, \u2018Plans\u2019 and \u2018Paradise\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Recorded in Nashville, the country-inspired album was made with the singer\u2019s longtime producers Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado, as well as guitarist David Rawlings, pedal steel player Bruce Bouton, and 85-year-old Charlie McCoy (the harmonica player who featured on all four of\u00a0Bob Dylan\u2019s\u00a0Nashville records).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3952765\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3952765\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3952765\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/BRANDON_FLOWERS_2026_ChrisPhelps.jpg\" alt=\"Brandon Flowers. He looks back on how his father would drive him around the countryside listening to\u00a0Johnny Cash\u00a0and\u00a0Waylon Jennings\u00a0on the record.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Thrasher\u2019 is said to find the vocalist at his most personal and vulnerable, delving into a chapter of his life that he\u2019s rarely written about before, and reminiscing about these formative years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I\u2019ve gotten older, I\u2019ve found my way back to my father\u2019s music \u2013 \u2018Country-Western\u2019 (as he called it) \u2013 and discovered that the stories I carry really feel most at home in the skin of this beautiful American tradition,\u201d Flowers said in a previous statement.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019ll take \u2018Thrasher\u2019 out on\u00a0a UK, Ireland and North American solo tour\u00a0later this year. One is a romantic South West record, and the other is a narrative South West record which picks up where \u2018Pressure Machine\u2019\u00a0left off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m thrilled about both of them, and they\u2019ll both come out before the next Killers record \u2013 but I\u2019m thrilled about the next Killers record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for future material from the Las Vegas band, Flowers told\u00a0<i>NME<\/i>\u00a0it was \u201ca little too early to say\u201d what their next era would sound like. However, he revealed that they wouldn\u2019t be returning to the slick, synth-y style of their recent Stuart Price-produced singles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will not put it out unless it is the best,\u201d the frontman said. \u201cWe\u2019ve already discussed it. It\u2019s gotta be so good or it\u2019s not worth it.\u201d He then confirmed that the new music would feature \u201call four members\u201d, after they reunited for the 2024 track \u2018Bright Lights\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Flowers debuted some new solo material and joined\u00a0Lucy Dacus\u00a0and\u00a0Nathaniel Rateliff\u00a0at\u00a0Newport Folk Festival last month, while also dusting off some Killers classics.
