At first, the lines are faint, but over a couple of days the pigment develops to reveal the final design. Driven by his own blood and needle phobias, he began exploring microneedle technology \u2013 now more commonly used in facial treatments \u2013 and questioning how it could \u201cfundamentally change\u201d the tattooing experience.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat started as a personal question evolved into a much larger exploration of how tattooing might be redesigned using modern engineering, manufacturing and human-centered design,\u201d he says.\n<\/p>\n<p>Nearly six years on, he\u2019s bringing the project to market. Appointments can be made at the company\u2019s CX Flagship Store in West London, and will also be offered through selected events, pop-ups and collaborations.\n<\/p>\n<p>For now, customers choose from a curated collection of designs, ranging from a smiley face \u2013 the first the company ever developed \u2013 to a chair. \u201cThe chair was just a silly idea, but it proved to be one of the most popular ones,\u201d Kohle says.\n<\/p>\n<p>Kohle, who runs the company alongside former surgeon Karl-Anton Harms, is quick to stress that the CipherX microdot tattoo isn\u2019t intended to replace traditional methods.\n<\/p>\n<p>Going forward, he\u2019d like to collaborate with tattoo artists on the designs, while keeping the device\u2019s limitations in mind. \u201cThe sweet spot is these smaller iconographic tattoos,\u201d he says. \u201cA sleeve is definitely not what we\u2019re going for.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>At the London launch, the pair also paid homage to the tools that came before \u2013 from ancient stick-and-poke methods through to the first electric tattoo machine. \u201cWe are really the next fundamentally novel step in that history of tools, because our needles are essentially made from the ink itself,\u201d Kohle says. \u201cThey go into the skin and then immediately deposit, and the needle is essentially becoming the tattoo.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Looking beyond its current cosmetic application, Kohle sees a medical future for CipherX \u2013 \u201cmaybe tattoos that can change color to tell you about your body, your temperature, UV exposure, things like that,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<div class=\"show-article\">\n<p>                                                            Read Full Article<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<footer>\n<div class=\"article-email-signup-wrapper impression-tracker\">\n<h3>We got you covered. At first, the lines are faint, but over a couple of days the pigment develops to reveal the final design. Driven by his own blood and needle phobias, he began exploring microneedle technology \u2013 now more commonly used in facial treatments \u2013 and questioning how it could \u201cfundamentally change\u201d the tattooing experience.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat started as a personal question evolved into a much larger exploration of how tattooing might be redesigned using modern engineering, manufacturing and human-centered design,\u201d he says.\n<\/p>\n<p>Nearly six years on, he\u2019s bringing the project to market. Appointments can be made at the company\u2019s CX Flagship Store in West London, and will also be offered through selected events, pop-ups and collaborations.\n<\/p>\n<p>For now, customers choose from a curated collection of designs, ranging from a smiley face \u2013 the first the company ever developed \u2013 to a chair. \u201cThe chair was just a silly idea, but it proved to be one of the most popular ones,\u201d Kohle says.\n<\/p>\n<p>Kohle, who runs the company alongside former surgeon Karl-Anton Harms, is quick to stress that the CipherX microdot tattoo isn\u2019t intended to replace traditional methods.\n<\/p>\n<p>Going forward, he\u2019d like to collaborate with tattoo artists on the designs, while keeping the device\u2019s limitations in mind. \u201cThe sweet spot is these smaller iconographic tattoos,\u201d he says. \u201cA sleeve is definitely not what we\u2019re going for.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>At the London launch, the pair also paid homage to the tools that came before \u2013 from ancient stick-and-poke methods through to the first electric tattoo machine. \u201cWe are really the next fundamentally novel step in that history of tools, because our needles are essentially made from the ink itself,\u201d Kohle says. \u201cThey go into the skin and then immediately deposit, and the needle is essentially becoming the tattoo.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Looking beyond its current cosmetic application, Kohle sees a medical future for CipherX \u2013 \u201cmaybe tattoos that can change color to tell you about your body, your temperature, UV exposure, things like that,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<div class=\"show-article\">\n<p>                                                            Read Full Article<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<footer>\n<div class=\"article-email-signup-wrapper impression-tracker\">\n<h3>We got you covered.
