People were coming to say goodbye. But I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0remember them coming. I didn\u2019t have\u00a0no\u00a0idea\u00a0this was going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DazxmsuqTjz\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>View this post on Instagram<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThey were all worried that they wouldn\u2019t see me again,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt could all have gone so terribly wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad1 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"taboola-mid-article-title\">Recommended<\/h5>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Collins said he felt fortunate to have survived the ordeal, adding: \u201cNeedless to say, I\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0had a drink since.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to say he reunited with his children for four \u201cfantastic\u201d days at a hotel in London, where his daughter, the actor Lily Collins, became emotional and told him, \u201cI never thought I\u2019d get these moments\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year,\u00a0he revealed he requires a 24-hour live-in nurse to help manage his medication after what he described as a \u201cdifficult, interesting, frustrating\u201d period. \u201cI had everything that could go wrong with me, did go wrong with me,\u201d he said, while also revealing he has undergone five operations on his knee.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, he said he was feeling \u201chealthier\u201d than he had for some\u00a0time, but\u00a0still ruled out performing at his upcoming Rock &amp; Roll Hall\u00a0Of\u00a0Fame induction later this year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-2\" class=\"lazy-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ve got to be match fit to do something like that,\u201d he explained. \u201cYou can\u2019t just go onstage \u2013 you have to rehearse, and by that point, if you\u2019ve not been singing then your voice is going to be shot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, however, that he would \u201ccontemplate\u201d performing live again in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Collins will be inducted as a solo artist in November, having already gone in as a member of Genesis in 2010. Oasis,\u00a0Iron Maiden,\u00a0Billy Idol,\u00a0Sade, Luther Vandross,\u00a0Wu-Tang Clan and Joy Division\/New Order\u00a0are the other inductees.<\/p>\n<p>The musician is also preparing to mark the 45th\u00a0anniversary of his debut solo album \u2018Face Value\u2019 with an expanded reissue titled \u2018Face Value (Full Value)\u2019. Collins\u00a0has revealed he nearly died in 2024 after his alcohol addiction left him in intensive care, with his family \u201ccoming to say goodbye\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The former\u00a0Genesis\u00a0singer and drummer has\u00a0opened up\u00a0about the personal ordeal in a new interview with\u00a0the\u00a0<i>Sunday Times<\/i>, in which he said he was first admitted to a hospital in Switzerland in connection with his alcohol use in November 2023.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>He said he was discharged three days before Christmas, but was rushed back to hospital weeks later, eventually spending seven months receiving treatment.<\/p>\n<p>When he became critically ill in April 2024, Collins was unconscious and his manager contacted his five children, who travelled to be at his bedside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were some decisions to be made about, \u2018Do we keep Phil on life support?\u2019 Kind of thing,\u201d Collins said. \u201cMy kidneys were packing\u00a0up,\u00a0my organs were just seizing up. People were coming to say goodbye. But I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0remember them coming. I didn\u2019t have\u00a0no\u00a0idea\u00a0this was going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DazxmsuqTjz\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>View this post on Instagram<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThey were all worried that they wouldn\u2019t see me again,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt could all have gone so terribly wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad1 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"taboola-mid-article-title\">Recommended<\/h5>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Collins said he felt fortunate to have survived the ordeal, adding: \u201cNeedless to say, I\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0had a drink since.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to say he reunited with his children for four \u201cfantastic\u201d days at a hotel in London, where his daughter, the actor Lily Collins, became emotional and told him, \u201cI never thought I\u2019d get these moments\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year,\u00a0he revealed he requires a 24-hour live-in nurse to help manage his medication after what he described as a \u201cdifficult, interesting, frustrating\u201d period. \u201cI had everything that could go wrong with me, did go wrong with me,\u201d he said, while also revealing he has undergone five operations on his knee.<\/p>\n<p>More recently, he said he was feeling \u201chealthier\u201d than he had for some\u00a0time, but\u00a0still ruled out performing at his upcoming Rock &amp; Roll Hall\u00a0Of\u00a0Fame induction later this year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-2\" class=\"lazy-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ve got to be match fit to do something like that,\u201d he explained. \u201cYou can\u2019t just go onstage \u2013 you have to rehearse, and by that point, if you\u2019ve not been singing then your voice is going to be shot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, however, that he would \u201ccontemplate\u201d performing live again in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Collins will be inducted as a solo artist in November, having already gone in as a member of Genesis in 2010. Oasis,\u00a0Iron Maiden,\u00a0Billy Idol,\u00a0Sade, Luther Vandross,\u00a0Wu-Tang Clan and Joy Division\/New Order\u00a0are the other inductees.<\/p>\n<p>The musician is also preparing to mark the 45th\u00a0anniversary of his debut solo album \u2018Face Value\u2019 with an expanded reissue titled \u2018Face Value (Full Value)\u2019.
