He later\u00a0criticised\u00a0what\u00a0he called the government\u2019s \u201cdraconian\u201d response and described his arrest as \u201cunlawful\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In February,\u00a0Massive Attack responded to the original ban on Palestine Action being deemed unlawful by the High Court, claiming then-Prime Minister Keir Starmer \u201cwanted to punish those who made their complicity in a genocide visible\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Massive Attack have been consistent in their support for Palestine and\u00a0have boycotted performing in Israel since 1999.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" group performed at the Star Theatre in the country on Wednesday night (July 29), where\u00a0they held the flag over their heads from the stage and joined in with audience chants of \u201cFree Palestine\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Two unnamed band members were subsequently issued with \u201cstern warnings\u201d and banned from re-entering Singapore, while authorities said they would not approve any future applications for the group to perform in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Massive Attack\u00a0have\u00a0given their response to the incident in a statement posted to their Instagram page.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing our performance at the Star Theatre, Singapore on 29th\u00a0July, we were surprised and disappointed that our entire band was detained by the police, isolated and separately questioned \u2013 with some members subjected to hotel room searches &amp; temporary passport confiscation,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" a sovereign state\u00a0recognised\u00a0by 157 countries (Palestine) would violate any law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn reflection, we are proud to have made this impromptu expression with our fans in Singapore who clearly felt a moral imperative to show solidarity with the people of Palestine in their ongoing reality of illegal occupation, apartheid &amp; genocide, &amp; we salute their courage in doing so.
