They were part of the resistance, and we are part of the resistance. \u1e62um\u016bd.\u201d\u00a0\u1e62um\u016bd\u00a0is an Arabic term associated with Palestinian steadfastness and\u00a0remaining\u00a0on the land in the face of occupation and\u00a0displacement.<\/p>\n<p>Miari added: \u201cI hope 10 years from now, whoever listens to \u2018Comfortably Numb Re-Imagined\u2019 could also experience a free Palestine and look back at it as a testament about the truth and what happened, and just cherish that sense of resistance and urgency for freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Waters also addressed the accusations of anti-Semitism that have surrounded him in recent years. \u201cI don\u2019t have an anti-Semitic bone in my body,\u201d he said. \u201cI never\u00a0did\u00a0and I never will\u00a0have. Waters described the comments as \u201cincendiary and wildly inaccurate\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Also in 2023, Berlin police investigated Waters after he wore a Nazi-style uniform during a concert. He said the performance was \u201cquite clearly a statement in opposition to fascism, injustice and bigotry\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, the Campaign Against Antisemitism released the documentary\u00a0<i>The Dark Side Of Roger Waters<\/i>, which included allegations about his past conduct.\u00a0Waters dismissed the film as a \u201cflimsy, unapologetic piece of propaganda\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A High Court judge issued a preliminary\u00a0ruling\u00a0in February last year in a libel case brought by the\u00a0documentary\u2019s\u00a0producer John Ware,\u00a0finding that comments Waters made about Ware were defamatory.<\/p>\n<p>Waters has also been a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement for many years, and has clashed with Radiohead\u2019s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood over the issue, telling them\u00a0\u201cthere\u00a0is no argument to be made\u201d over the issue.<\/p>\n<p>He has also traded comments with Nick Cave over the latter\u2019s criticism of BDS, telling him, \u201cIt\u2019s not complicated, pay attention\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Last year,\u00a0Waters voiced his support for Palestine Action after the\u00a0organisation was proscribed as a terrorist group by the UK government. He described the group as a \u201cnonviolent\u201d organisation that were \u201cabsolutely not terrorists in any way\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He also called Disturbed\u00a0frontman\u00a0David Draiman an \u201cobnoxious little prick\u201d\u00a0after the singer accused him of a \u201cmassive betrayal\u201d of \u201cJews everywhere\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Comfortably Numb Re-Imagined\u2019 arrives just days after\u00a0Boy George shared the pro-Israel reggae song \u2018We Will Dance Again\u2019, which opens with the line, \u201c<i>You say genocide, I say war<\/i>\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>George has said\u00a0the song was inspired by a visit to the Nova Festival Experience in London, which commemorates\u00a0the Hamas-led attack on the Nova Festival in Israel\u00a0on\u00a0October 7, Waters\u00a0has shared a \u201creimagined\u201d version of\u00a0Pink Floyd\u2018s \u2018Comfortably Numb\u2019 with Palestinian singer Mona Miari \u2013\u00a0check\u00a0it out below.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Comfortably Numb Re-Imagined\u2019 transforms the song from 1979\u2019s \u2018The Wall\u2019 into a nine-minute tribute to the Palestinian people, featuring new English and Arabic lyrics and a video with footage filmed in Gaza.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The original refrain of \u201c<em>I have become comfortably numb<\/em>\u201d has been adapted by Waters and Miari into: \u201c<em>I will never become comfortably numb.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A new section written by Miari, titled \u2018Hind\u2019s Lullaby\u2019, has also been added, inspired by the story of Hind Rajab, the six-year-old Palestinian that it was prophetic \u2013 there is a right and a wrong,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is not complicated, and this song is on the right side of history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope they\u2019ll go, \u2018Phew\u2019. They were part of the resistance, and we are part of the resistance. \u1e62um\u016bd.\u201d\u00a0\u1e62um\u016bd\u00a0is an Arabic term associated with Palestinian steadfastness and\u00a0remaining\u00a0on the land in the face of occupation and\u00a0displacement.<\/p>\n<p>Miari added: \u201cI hope 10 years from now, whoever listens to \u2018Comfortably Numb Re-Imagined\u2019 could also experience a free Palestine and look back at it as a testament about the truth and what happened, and just cherish that sense of resistance and urgency for freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Waters also addressed the accusations of anti-Semitism that have surrounded him in recent years. \u201cI don\u2019t have an anti-Semitic bone in my body,\u201d he said. \u201cI never\u00a0did\u00a0and I never will\u00a0have. Waters described the comments as \u201cincendiary and wildly inaccurate\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Also in 2023, Berlin police investigated Waters after he wore a Nazi-style uniform during a concert. He said the performance was \u201cquite clearly a statement in opposition to fascism, injustice and bigotry\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, the Campaign Against Antisemitism released the documentary\u00a0<i>The Dark Side Of Roger Waters<\/i>, which included allegations about his past conduct.\u00a0Waters dismissed the film as a \u201cflimsy, unapologetic piece of propaganda\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A High Court judge issued a preliminary\u00a0ruling\u00a0in February last year in a libel case brought by the\u00a0documentary\u2019s\u00a0producer John Ware,\u00a0finding that comments Waters made about Ware were defamatory.<\/p>\n<p>Waters has also been a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement for many years, and has clashed with Radiohead\u2019s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood over the issue, telling them\u00a0\u201cthere\u00a0is no argument to be made\u201d over the issue.<\/p>\n<p>He has also traded comments with Nick Cave over the latter\u2019s criticism of BDS, telling him, \u201cIt\u2019s not complicated, pay attention\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Last year,\u00a0Waters voiced his support for Palestine Action after the\u00a0organisation was proscribed as a terrorist group by the UK government.
