Night 1 of BTS\u2019 MetLife run was a near-nonstop <em>ARIRANG<\/em> showcase with nearly every song from the multi-week Billboard 200 chart-topper performed plus some classic hits and fan favorites. The guys only paused mostly to thank ARMY for showing up and turning up. Absent was any direct extension of the collective statement the members issued earlier this week announcing they would not submit their music to this year\u2019s Grammy Awards. ARMY, however, had plenty to say, and those messages made it to the jumbotron (read on for those messages).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBTS kept things cheerful instead, with RM telling the crowd, \u201cWhatever\u2019s next, guys, ARMY\u2019s, I want to stay positive. That was clearest in the performance of \u201cFake Love,\u201d when the member shown singing on the LED screens appeared to be surrounded by effects, lines, and designs that moved and reacted around them in real time. The members performed the two mid-tempo tracks, surrounded by their dancers holding long, flowing cloths that created a billowing wave effect on stage, which were ocean blue during \u201cSWIM\u201d and then opened the aperture to pinks and purples for \u201cMerry Go Round.\u201d It was that simple, smart visual effect that would offer maximum impact on television.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut beyond the visual impact, \u201cMerry Go Round\u201d in particular offered one of the more tender performances of the night with J-Hope and RM closing the falsetto-heavy, Kevin Parker\u2013produced track with palpable emotional impact. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe audience closing the song by shouting a fanchat made the performance that much more perfect.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>Jimin Goes Gray and Slays<\/h2>\n<p>\t<!-- do not apply CSS styles to this element! --><\/p>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt was less than two weeks since Jimin last performed at the World Cup Final Halftime Show at MetLife, where he wowed with his long blonde locks tucked back in a low ponytail. For his comeback to the New Jersey stadium, Jimin was still rocking the long \u2018do, now with stunning gray tones that gave him a classic princely aura as he performed. We can\u2019t pick just one moment where his hair looked best because it somehow stayed shiny and bodied throughout the whole show.
