On July 15, Norco released its latest iteration of the budget-friendly Fluid<\/a> trail bike. The 140\/130mm (F\/R) aluminum mountain bike saw significant geometry changes, a flip chip for a 27.5 rear wheel, and solid builds at impressive prices. The Norco Fluid A2 features RockShox suspension, Shimano brakes, Shimano drivetrain, and Schwalbe radial tires for $2,900.<\/p>\n

Fast forward just over two weeks, and Norco is asking its customers to stop riding their new Fluids. In a voluntary recall, Norco claims that the 2027 Fluid\u2019s \u201cseat tube could fail under certain use conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Singletracks reached out to Norco for further clarification but hadn\u2019t heard back as of press time. The following information is from Norco\u2019s August 1 release<\/a> of the voluntary recall:<\/p>\n

At Norco, rider safety is always our top priority. In keeping with that commitment, we are issuing a voluntary safety recall for MY27 Fluid models. While no accidents or injuries have been reported, we are taking this action proactively in the interest of your safety.<\/p>\n

Reason for the Recall\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have identified that the seat tube could fail under certain use conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What\u2019s Affected?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

This recall applies to all models and all sizes of the following bikes:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Model Year 2027 Fluid A1 \u2013 Blue\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2022 Model Year 2027 Fluid A2 \u2013 Silver\u00a0<\/p>\n

Though recalls for accessories like bike helmets and lights are fairly common, recalls for bike frames are rare. Singletracks was unable to find an official recall notice from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, which publishes voluntary recall notifications in the United States.<\/p>\n
