The title had appeared among a list of tracks they\u2019d been rehearsing, along with another currently-unheard cut,\u2019She\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>During a new interview with <em>Radio X<\/em>, The Maccabees reflected on returning to their adopted home city of Brighton for this summer\u2019s \u2018On The Beach\u2019 series. We didn\u2019t have any songs, and now we have <em>some<\/em> songs. We have one that we\u2019re really confident [in] and we\u2019re enjoy playing.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to reveal that The Maccabees have more tracks they\u2019ve \u201cbeen working on whilst we\u2019ve been away\u201d, adding that they\u2019ll \u201ckeep working on\u201d these after the tour wraps up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the aim, is to try and do it,\u201d Weeks explained. \u201cMake it good enough, and then it\u2019ll happen, you know.\u201d<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Maccabees - The Ballad Of So Long (Live at Eden Sessions, Cornwall 11\/07\/2026)\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/M5EDfENjsQ4?feature=oembed&amp;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Guitarist Hugo White said adding some new songs to the setlist in 2026 has given the band \u201ca hint of the future\u201d. \u201cThere is more to it, you know,\u201d he shared.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the chat, Weeks recalled opening for Florence + The Machine at the Hollywood Bowl, and revealed his desire to headline the venue one day.<\/p>\n<p>In May, <em>NME<\/em> asked Weeks for an update on The Maccabees\u2019 new material. \u201cI would say we\u2019re slightly further on than just talking about it, but we\u2019re not a long way on,\u201d he told us. \u201cI live in Lisbon, so it\u2019s harder for me to just get in a room, but I think the fact that we\u2019re doing these shows is a good opportunity to put a fire under us. He said the current gigs would \u201ceither be the last Maccabees shows, or we\u2019ll try and make some music and see where it goes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He later told\u00a0<em>NME\u00a0<\/em>about potential future material, explaining: \u201cI think The Maccabees is never going to be a thing where you go, \u2018Oh, we got another record, another record, another record\u2026\u2019 because, for better or worse, everyone cares too much about it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we can get together and really feel all the stuff when you\u2019re playing a song together \u2013 even if you\u2019re in a bad mood, you can\u2019t help but smile really big and have all the clich\u00e9s like hairs on the back of your neck [standing up]\u2026 if we can find that secret again, then that will be a really amazing thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last summer, the musician said it was \u201ctempting\u201d for The Maccabees to head back into the studio but revealed that the group weren\u2019t working on any new music at the time.<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Maccabees open up about their reunion at Glastonbury 2025\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ixIvtPU3xlo?feature=oembed&amp;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>White had previously admitted that\u00a0the band\u2019s live return \u201calmost felt embarrassing\u201d after their \u201cdefinitive\u201d break-up in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>When speaking to\u00a0<em>NME<\/em>\u00a0at their rehearsals at the start of last year, The Maccabees confirmed there had been no talk of new music at that point: \u201cThe plan is to do [All Points East] and see how much we love it. We might hate each other by August.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Support at tonight\u2019s Leeds gig comes from Max\u00efmo Park,\u00a0Everything Everything, Mystery Jets and rising Yorkshire singer-songwriter Fiona-Lee. Two intimate warm-up shows took place in Newcastle and Edinburgh earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Weeks has released music as a solo artist in the years since The Maccabees\u2019 latest album, and recently played a show as part of Harry Styles\u2019\u00a0Meltdown festival. We might hate each other by August.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Support at tonight\u2019s Leeds gig comes from Max\u00efmo Park,\u00a0Everything Everything, Mystery Jets and rising Yorkshire singer-songwriter Fiona-Lee. Two intimate warm-up shows took place in Newcastle and Edinburgh earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Weeks has released music as a solo artist in the years since The Maccabees\u2019 latest album, and recently played a show as part of Harry Styles\u2019\u00a0Meltdown festival.
