As is common in many walks of life, cycling tech innovations often begin life in the hands of the WorldTour’s best athletes before gradually trickling down to everyone else, and that’s exactly the path Prologo’s Predator project has followed.<\/p>\n
Its story began at the 2024 Tour de France, where a prototype saddle made its public debut beneath race leader (and now four-time winner) Tadej Poga\u010dar during the final individual time trial in Nice. Developed alongside UAE Team Emirates, it marked a wild redesign of what a traditional time trial saddle looked like, with a flat plate replacing the rails, a modular construction, and a faired rear that aided aerodynamics.<\/p>\n
A year later, Prologo refined the design in partnership with Team Visma-Lease a Bike, and soon after launched the Predator\/\/01 \u2013 a groundbreaking, integrated, modular saddle raced throughout the 2025 season by Wout van Aert, Jonas Vingegaard and co.<\/p>\n
It pushed the boundaries of saddle design, but that also placed it firmly at the premium end of the market, with a price of over \u20ac1000.<\/p>\n
Now, Prologo is taking the next step in the Predator story, and the new Predator\/\/02<\/strong> takes many of the novel ideas that made its predecessor one of the most talked-about saddles in time trial, but melds it into a more universally compatible platform at a more accessible price of \u20ac569.<\/p>\nThe biggest change comes underneath the saddle. Where the flagship Predator\/\/01 employed a fully integrated carbon plate, which is only compatible with a select number of bikes’ clamp systems, the Predator\/\/02 uses Prologo’s Nack (Nano Carbon Fibre) rail with a more common 7 x 9 mm oval profile. That seemingly simple change has a significant impact, making the saddle compatible with any seatpost designed with carbon saddles in mind.<\/p>\n
Among which, the Pinarello Bolide TT of Tom Pidcock, who used the new Predator\/\/02 saddle at the 2026 Tour de France.<\/p>\n\n\n

The change also brings a sizeable drop in price. At \u20ac569, the Predator\/\/02 is still a premium product for cyclists and triathletes who really appreciate cutting-edge tech, but one that costs less than half that of its stablemate, making Prologo’s latest time trial technology available to a broader audience.<\/p>\n
However, this accessibility hasn’t come at the expense of performance. Instead of the full-carbon construction used on the original model, Prologo has developed an injected long-fibre carbon base for the Predator\/\/02, which preserves the stiffness and efficiency expected from a high-performance racing saddle while allowing the technology to reach a lower price point.<\/p>\n
Equally impressively, the weight remains competitively low. The Predator\/\/02TT<\/strong> tips the scales at just 159g, while the wider-nosed Predator\/\/02TRI<\/strong> weighs only 169g. This is 27 and 20g more than their more premium counterparts, respectively, but compares exceptionally well against many competitive high-end time trial saddles.<\/p>\n\n\n

Alongside extensive CFD simulations and wind tunnel testing, Prologo worked closely with both Visma-Lease a Bike and Ironman World Champion Sam Laidlow throughout the development process.<\/p>\n
That collaboration helped to create a saddle specifically for the demands of aggressive aerodynamic riding positions. A forward-tilted position with your head low and shoulders narrow can save tens of watts, but only if you can hold it comfortably from start to finish, and that depends on a saddle stable and supportive enough to stop you falling apart late on.<\/p>\n
The compact 260 x 110 mm dimensions remain unchanged, as does the flat profile and aerodynamically optimised silhouette that define the Predator family.<\/p>\n
And recognising that long-distance time triallists and triathletes often have different requirements to WorldTour time triallists or ‘club 10’ amateurs, Prologo offers the Predator\/\/02 in two dedicated versions, allowing riders to choose the option that best suits their discipline rather than compromising with a one-size-fits-all solution.<\/p>\n
The Predator\/\/02TT<\/strong> features a narrower 50mm nose designed for riders prioritising maximum freedom of movement during shorter, high-intensity efforts. Meanwhile, the Predator\/\/02TRI<\/strong> uses a wider 60mm nose with additional padding to provide greater support during the prolonged aero positions typically adopted in middle- and long-distance triathlon.<\/p>\nBoth models share the same modular construction, which allows the base and rails to be separated and means the rider needn’t buy an entirely new saddle in the event of a crash.<\/p>\n
The headline figures tell part of the story: compatibility with almost any modern performance bike, a weight starting at just 159g, and a price that’s less than half that of the original flagship.<\/p>\n
But more importantly, the Predator\/\/02<\/strong> brings one of the most innovative saddle concepts to emerge from the WorldTour and triathlon in recent years within reach of far more riders. For cyclists chasing every aerodynamic advantage \u2013 whether against the clock in a local club race or in the bike leg of an Ironman \u2013 Prologo’s latest Predator could prove to be its most significant release yet.<\/p>\n\n\n
