On July 1, the senior Ferrell stopped by Michelle Obama\u00a0and Craig Robinson\u2019s\u00a0IMO<\/em>\u00a0podcast, where he proudly played a snippet of his son\u2019s buzzy track.<\/p>\n \n\tBy July 23, \u201cAsleep Talking\u201d earned a favorable mention from\u00a0The Morning Shift Show, which boasts\u00a0over 1.6 million followers on TikTok alone. In the interim, Magnus Ferrell has been cranking out social media\u00a0content\u00a0promoting the song \u2014 including clips of him\u00a0reacting to NBC News\u00a0picking up the connection between him and his father \u2014 while launching his\u00a0Blue Note Los Angeles residency\u00a0on July 21.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tAccording to Luminate, \u201cAsleep\u201d earned just 67,000 official on-demand U.S. streams during the period of July 18-21. Over the next four days (July 22-25), \u201cAsleep\u201d vaulted a whopping 892% to over 670,000 official on-demand streams.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tWith its No. 24 debut on the Aug. 1-dated Digital Song Sales chart, \u201cAsleep\u201d helps Magnus officially\u00a0join his father\u00a0as a Billboard<\/em>-charting artist. Back in 2020, \u201cHusavik,\u201d Will Ferrell\u2019s song from his Netflix comedy\u00a0Eurovision\u00a0Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga,\u00a0<\/em>peaked at No. 16\u00a0on\u00a0the same ranking.\u00a0\u2014\u00a0KYLE DENIS<\/em><\/p>\n \n\tLast week (July 21), Latto and Doja Cat dropped their sexy\u00a0\u201cOkayyy\u201d music video\u00a0\u2014 and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0already having an impact on the song\u2019s streaming success.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tTaken from Latto\u2019s new\u00a0Big Mama<\/em>\u00a0LP, \u201cOkayyy\u201d earned over 823,000 official on-demand U.S. streams\u00a0in the five-day period preceding the music video (July 16-20), according to Lumiante. In the five-day period following the\u00a0video\u2019s\u00a0release (July 21-25), that number leapt 308% to over 3.36 million streams. On YouTube, the \u201cOkayyy\u201d music video has surpassed 4.7 million views in just over a week, and the official\u00a0TikTok\u00a0sound plays in over\u00a0237,000 posts.\u00a0Drawing\u00a0praise\u00a0for their complementary fashion and glam \u2014 and\u00a0sound\u00a0critique\u00a0for\u00a0how the video\u2019s almost-exclusive use of dark-skinned black men as mute background props plays into colorist\u00a0tropes\u00a0\u2014 the \u201cOkayyy\u201d video has been\u00a0virtually inescapable\u00a0across social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tLatto\u00a0hasn\u2019t\u00a0landed a Billboard Hot 100 entry from\u00a0Big Mama<\/em>\u00a0since last summer\u2019s \u201cSomebody\u201d (No. 94), but \u201cOkayyy\u201d could change that should the song\u00a0maintain\u00a0its post-music video momentum.\u00a0Notably, on Oct. 1, Latto will join Doja\u2019s Tour Ma Vie World Tour as the special guest for the trek\u2019s North American leg. \u2014\u00a0K.D.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cYamal is the official owner of this song,\u201d reads one comment on the YouTube page for Don Miguel\u2019s \u201cY Qu\u00e9 Fue?\u201d That may be going a little far \u2014\u00a0the Dominican dembow artist\u2019s 2020 single had already racked up hundreds of millions of plays on both YouTube and Spotify before Spain took home the gold trophy at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. But the song has certainly gone to a new level in the past week and a half, following the country\u2019s 21-year-old superstar using the song as the soundtrack to his introduction at the team\u2019s championship celebration at the Plaza de Cibeles last Monday (July 20). <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cY Qu\u00e9 Fue?\u201d (in English: \u201cAnd what happened?\u201d) went newly viral after Lamine Yamal\u2019s entrance to the hard-hitting dance song, complete with a little dance shuffle that helped it catch on social media. (Don Miguelo also shared video of the intro on Instagram.) Consequently, the song has exploded on streaming, racking up nearly 1.9 million official on-demand U.S. streams for the tracking week ending July 23, according to Luminate \u2014\u00a0a 159% gain over the prior week. It even debuted on both the Global 200 (No. 148) and the Hot Latin Songs chart (No. 15) dated Aug. 1, six years after its initial release. <\/p>\n \n\tWill the streaming bumps from this World Cup ever stop?
