\n\tDustin Yellin has a hot take: \u201cReligion should be a product of art, not art a product of religion!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tUm, sure!<\/p>\n

\n\tThe multidisciplinary artist and Pioneer Works founder made the comment in a recent appearance on\u00a0SubwayTakes<\/em>, the internet talk show hosted by Kareem Rahma. In the episode, posted to Instagram Tuesday, a befuddled Rahma responds, \u201c100 percent disagree. Don\u2019t even know what the f\u2014k you\u2019re talking about.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs is perhaps to be expected from an out-there personality like Yellin, he had quite a bit more to say. Yellin explained that his point was about how humans treat religion as \u201cliteral and real,\u201d which in his estimation creates division and killing. He went on to say that he thinks religion should be taught in schools as a beautiful form of narrative art, rather than as a representation of reality.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe are on a rock flying through space and we have no idea what\u2019s f\u2014king going on. We are in deep space, deep time,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are just as much aliens as aliens.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tUltimately, Yellin\u2019s contention is that religion should be understood as a way to communicate and understand each other and to explain the \u201cunknowable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Rahma doesn\u2019t quite come around to Yellin\u2019s point of view, they both settle on the idea that the Pope should be on\u00a0SubwayTakes<\/em>. Anyone have the Holy See\u2019s direct line?<\/p>\n
