class=\"ciam-article-t365\"><!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p>Leylah Fernandez has had the honour of partnering the great Venus Williams in doubles, but the former world No 1\u2019s support for the Canadian didn\u2019t stop once their partnership came to an end.<\/p>\n<p>The pair partnered for the first time at last year\u2019s US Open and they upset the sixth seeds and 12th seeds en route to reaching the quarter-final before losing to Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to March and they teamed up again at the Miami Open, but this time their run was short-lived as they lost in the first round against Asia Muhammad and Erin Routliffe.<\/p>\n<p>Yet the partnership didn\u2019t end there as Williams, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/venus-williams-shares-stunning-photos-engagement-andrea-preti\">her husband Andrea Preti<\/a> and the rest of the American\u2019s team are always on hand to send messages of support.<\/p>\n<h2>WTA News<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a Venus has definitely a welcoming aura where she always wants to support and help as much as possible,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/leylah-fernandez\">Fernandez<\/a> revealed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always see her or her husband or someone from her team sometimes watching my matches. At the end of my matches, they would send me a message either congratulating me or, like, telling me to keep my head up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat definitely helps in those tough moments, in those good moments to keep going because I know she\u2019s gone through those wins and losses, and she\u2019s always found a way to bounce back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo it motivates me. It encourages me, and it definitely kind of brings me back to why I play tennis. It\u2019s more like I just want to enjoy my time on court, just the same way that she\u2019s doing right now playing tennis and competing and winning matches. I always see her smiling, so it\u2019s always nice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is unlikely that the Fernandez-Williams partnership will enter this year\u2019s US Open as the seven-time Grand Slam winner is expected to partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/when-serena-williams-is-expected-to-return-to-tennis-as-latest-schedule-leaked\">her sister Serena Williams<\/a> at their home major.<\/p>\n<p>So, does Serena\u2019s return to competitive action mean the end of the road for Fernandez and Venus as a team?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know what the plan is. I\u2019ve been taking it one tournament at a time, so we\u2019ll see. We\u2019ll see what\u2019s in the cards for us, but it would be cool to run it back with her,\u201d the 23-year-old said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it does happen, it will be fun.
