Just in case the peloton hasn\u2019t suffered enough, ASO\u2019s course designers pile on 5,400m vertical meters for the\u00a0Tour de France\u2018s \u201cqueen stage.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 2026 Tour\u2019s final mountain stage strings together three of the most iconic climbs in the French Alps and serves them up on a platter of GC pain.<\/p>\n
Things could explode early as the stage opens with the first of three HC climbs with the Croix de Fer in the opening 30km \u2014 ouch.<\/p>\n
Then the T\u00e9l\u00e9graphe and the endless climb up the HC summit at the Galibier, the highest point of the 2026 Tour at 2642m, are stacked up.<\/p>\n
A long descent provides a brief respite before the race climbs back toward Alpe d\u2019Huez for a second consecutive day.<\/p>\n
This time, though, the stage arrives via the backdoor over the HC Col de Sarenne, which has only ever been used in 2013 and then as a descent.<\/p>\n
The route rejoins the Alpe d\u2019Huez climb on the upper reaches of the final climb, and only tackles the closing few switchbacks before the finish line.<\/p>\n
