Koller had been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, a form of oesophageal cancer, in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s with unbelievable sadness that we announce to our worldwide hardcore family the passing of our brother Lou Koller,\u201d they wrote. \u201cThe level of loss that we feel\u00a0at this time\u00a0is overwhelming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year would have marked Sick\u00a0Of\u00a0It All\u2019s 40th anniversary as a band, and Lou\u2019s camaraderie, commitment and enthusiasm were always steadfast throughout the years. We have lost a beloved friend and an iconic\u00a0frontman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLou had the power to raise everyone\u2019s spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic comment, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DbMSEsnxDxV\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>View this post on Instagram<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The band also thanked those who had contributed to Koller\u2019s medical fund during his illness. \u201cYou all helped Lou feel very special and very loved as he battled away these last two years,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis battle is over now and he can finally rest.\u00a0Hopefully\u00a0he can somehow still see and feel the beautiful, positive mark he left on the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Koller first\u00a0disclosed\u00a0his diagnosis in June 2024, when Sick\u00a0Of\u00a0It All\u00a0cancelled a run of European dates\u00a0so he could undergo treatment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason it is cancelled is because they found a\u00a0tumour\u00a0in my esophagus that goes into my stomach, and I\u2019ll have to be getting treatment all summer,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cAnd of course, full support of the band, as soon as they heard\u00a0it\u00a0they were like, \u2018Forget the tour, just get healthy\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In May 2025, Koller announced that he had been declared cancer-free after undergoing surgery and chemotherapy. Four months later, he confirmed that the cancer had returned, telling fans: \u201cUnfortunately, the cancer has come back. They\u00a0emerged\u00a0from the city\u2019s hardcore scene, playing early shows at CBGB and releasing their self-titled debut EP through Revelation Records in 1987.<\/p>\n<p>The band\u2019s first full-length album, \u2018Blood, Sweat And No Tears\u2019, followed in 1989. They went on to release 12 studio albums, including 1992\u2019s \u2018Just Look Around\u2019, 1994\u2019s \u2018Scratch The Surface\u2019 and 1997\u2019s \u2018Built To Last\u2019, becoming one of New York hardcore\u2019s most influential bands.<\/p>\n<p>Sick Of It All\u2019s most recent album was 2018\u2019s \u2018Wake\u00a0The\u00a0Sleeping Dragon!\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div Koller, the\u00a0frontman\u00a0and co-founder of New York hardcore band\u00a0Sick\u00a0Of\u00a0It All, has died at the age of 59.<\/p>\n<p>The news was confirmed by the band yesterday (July 24) in a statement shared on Instagram. Koller had been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, a form of oesophageal cancer, in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s with unbelievable sadness that we announce to our worldwide hardcore family the passing of our brother Lou Koller,\u201d they wrote. \u201cThe level of loss that we feel\u00a0at this time\u00a0is overwhelming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year would have marked Sick\u00a0Of\u00a0It All\u2019s 40th anniversary as a band, and Lou\u2019s camaraderie, commitment and enthusiasm were always steadfast throughout the years. We have lost a beloved friend and an iconic\u00a0frontman.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLou had the power to raise everyone\u2019s spirits at our shows with a smile and a sarcastic comment, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DbMSEsnxDxV\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>View this post on Instagram<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The band also thanked those who had contributed to Koller\u2019s medical fund during his illness. \u201cYou all helped Lou feel very special and very loved as he battled away these last two years,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis battle is over now and he can finally rest.\u00a0Hopefully\u00a0he can somehow still see and feel the beautiful, positive mark he left on the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Koller first\u00a0disclosed\u00a0his diagnosis in June 2024, when Sick\u00a0Of\u00a0It All\u00a0cancelled a run of European dates\u00a0so he could undergo treatment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason it is cancelled is because they found a\u00a0tumour\u00a0in my esophagus that goes into my stomach, and I\u2019ll have to be getting treatment all summer,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cAnd of course, full support of the band, as soon as they heard\u00a0it\u00a0they were like, \u2018Forget the tour, just get healthy\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In May 2025, Koller announced that he had been declared cancer-free after undergoing surgery and chemotherapy. Four months later, he confirmed that the cancer had returned, telling fans: \u201cUnfortunately, the cancer has come back. They\u00a0emerged\u00a0from the city\u2019s hardcore scene, playing early shows at CBGB and releasing their self-titled debut EP through Revelation Records in 1987.<\/p>\n<p>The band\u2019s first full-length album, \u2018Blood, Sweat And No Tears\u2019, followed in 1989.
