It was accompanied by the caption: \u201cIran has been warned.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Responding\u00a0in\u00a0a statement on X today (July 25), Perry said she had neither been consulted nor granted permission for her music to be used.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply appalled and angry to see \u2018Firework\u2019 used on the White House TikTok as a backing track for video footage of military strikes,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perry went on to explain the intended message behind \u2018Firework\u2019,\u00a0describing the track as an anthem designed to support people experiencing difficult periods in their lives.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I am deeply appalled and angry to see \u201cFirework\u201d used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes. Perry performed it outside the Lincoln Memorial during the televised celebration marking Joe Biden\u2019s presidential inauguration in January 2021, accompanied by a large fireworks display across Washington DC.<\/p>\n<p>Perry is the latest in a growing number of musicians to object to the Trump administration using their music in government social media posts.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad \u201cbarbaric, inhumane\u201d footage.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Kesha also hit out after \u2018Blow\u2019 was used in a military video, while\u00a0Boards\u00a0Of\u00a0Canada and Warp Records condemned the\u00a0unauthorised\u00a0use of \u2018Deep Time\u2019\u00a0in a post featuring border patrol boats and detention\u00a0centres.<\/p>\n<p>Sabrina Carpenter previously described an ICE video featuring \u2018Juno\u2019 as \u201cevil and disgusting\u201d, while Olivia Rodrigo accused the administration of using her music to promote \u201cracist, hateful propaganda\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Other artists and estates to have objected to Trump using their work include\u00a0The Rolling Stones, Adele, Neil Young,\u00a0Jack White,\u00a0ABBA,\u00a0C\u00e9line Dion,\u00a0Foo Fighters,\u00a0Isaac Hayes\u2019 estate and Eddie Grant.<\/p>\n<p>Perry recently announced that\u00a0her \u2018Lifetimes\u2019 concert film will be shown in more than 150 cinemas across the UK.\u00a0<i>Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour \u2013 Live\u00a0From\u00a0Paris<\/i> will launch in cinemas and IMAX screens across 70 countries on September 2, with tickets for UK screenings going on sale here next Thursday (July administration shared the video through the official White House TikTok account earlier this week, pairing footage of military operations with Perry\u2019s 2010 hit. It was accompanied by the caption: \u201cIran has been warned.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Responding\u00a0in\u00a0a statement on X today (July 25), Perry said she had neither been consulted nor granted permission for her music to be used.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply appalled and angry to see \u2018Firework\u2019 used on the White House TikTok as a backing track for video footage of military strikes,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI did not approve this, I was not asked, and I absolutely do not condone it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Perry went on to explain the intended message behind \u2018Firework\u2019,\u00a0describing the track as an anthem designed to support people experiencing difficult periods in their lives.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I am deeply appalled and angry to see \u201cFirework\u201d used on the @WhiteHouse TikTok account as a backing track for video footage of military strikes.
