President Donald Trump wondered if newly minted Philadelphia 76ers star LeBron James might be a \u201cracist\u201d on Friday when asked to pick who he believes to be the greatest basketball player of all time.<\/p>\n

Trump said he thinks that Michael Jordan is the best player ever. His reasoning was personal.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a really good guy,\u201d Trump said in the Oval Office<\/a>. \u201cI think LeBron is \u2014 maybe he\u2019s a racist. But maybe he doesn\u2019t like Trump. I don\u2019t know. I only like people that like me. So I would say Michael Jordan all the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump said that he has played golf with Jordan and considers the Chicago Bulls legend a friend. And while Jordan has won six NBA titles, six NBA Finals MVP awards and five regular-season MVPs and is widely considered to be one of the two best players of all time, Trump alluded to his personal history with James as contributing to his answer.<\/p>\n

A representative for James declined to comment Friday evening. The Athletic<\/em> has reached out to Jordan\u2019s representatives for comment and will update this story if they respond.<\/p>\n

But Philly is hard. The Sixers did not play worth a jack yesterday at all. They got whitewashed in their own building. Philly has a 43 year wait pending from its fan base. Philly has a media contingency that all due respect to Los Angeles, is a little harder on the local teams than the LA. Writers and broadcasters are out there. With the Knicks fans taking over the building is a direct response to what the Sixers fans have been put through for the last 25 years. Philly has a talented roster whose superstar, Joel Embiid hasn’t been able to stay healthy when the playoffs come throughout his career. Philly has New York, the defending NBA champions to now go through in the Eastern Conference.
