Some fans have interpreted these words to be about Taylor Swift, for whom Abrams was a support act for the \u2018Eras\u2019 tour.<\/p>\n<p>However, \u2018Daughter From Hell\u2019 producer Aaron Dessner has denied such allegations. Along with his work in The National, Dessner has collaborated with Abrams for six years, and has also produced several Swift albums including 2020\u2019s \u2018folklore\u2019 and \u2018evermore\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>He told <em>Billboard<\/em> that \u2018Death Wish\u2019 was \u201cdefinitely not\u201d about the \u2018Opalite\u2019 singer.\u00a0\u201cIt was written at a time when [Gracie] was writing about a friend\u2019s ex, being in a bad relationship,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cSo it was kind of about that person, I think. I wouldn\u2019t even actually know who that person was\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This explanation is backed up by Abrams herself, who told fans of the song\u2019s origins during its live debut at her London O2 Arena stop in March 2025. \u201cThis song is about a friend of mine who recently was dating, like, a mega narcissist,\u201d she told the crowd at the time. \u201cA sincere friend of mine was recently dating someone who kind of <em>sucked<\/em>. On the final \u2018Eras\u2019 leg in Vancouver, Abrams and Swift delivered a mash-up of Abrams\u2019 \u2018I Love You, I\u2019m Sorry\u2019 and Swift\u2019s \u2018Last Kiss\u2019 on stage is meant to be a reflection, so it\u2019s fitting that the title track serves as an apology to Abrams\u2019 parents for terrorising them as a teenage tearaway,\u201d we wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s a shame that it ends up feeling plodding and dirgey, the slow, distorted guitar making it feel more torturous than enlightened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerhaps that in itself is a reflection \u2013 that, at 26, Abrams
