Throughout each era, \u201cRocket\u201d surfaced repeatedly as a possible title, but never quite landed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe idea dates back to one of the earliest chapters of Fike\u2019s career: famously recording what would become his breakout extended play while on house arrest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBorn on Dec. 30, 1995, Fike grew up in Naples, Florida. He is of Filipino descent through his mother \u2014 a detail that has increasingly resonated with Filipino listeners as his career has grown internationally. Although Fike has previously shared that he wasn\u2019t raised with a particularly strong connection to his Filipino heritage, his roots have nonetheless become a point of connection for many fans in the Philippines following his rise as both a musician and actor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThroughout his career, Fike has spoken candidly about the instability that marked his upbringing, including both of his parents\u2019 struggles with addiction. Even as his big break arrived, unpredictability continued to shape both his music and public persona. In 2017, after being charged with battery of a police officer during an incident involving his brother and subsequently being placed on house arrest, \u201cRocket\u201d began to take on meaning. Thinking about its resemblance to shipping containers, he imagined rockets as vehicles of escape from his confinement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhen asked what made the word stay with him over the years, Fike describes it simply as, \u201cI really like how it sounds and I like how it looks in my mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFor him, \u201cRocket\u201d existed first as a feeling rather than a definition, a concept that resonated before it carried any concrete meaning. Years later, he would find an unexpected connection in Alan Watts\u2019 <em>The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are, <\/em>which describes the rocket as one of America\u2019s defining symbols of conquest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWhen I read that line, I felt like I made a good decision because I think I read that line after I named <em>Rocket<\/em>,\u201d Fike tells <em>Billboard Philippines<\/em>. While the passage didn\u2019t give the word its meaning, it affirmed an idea that he had already believed in for years. For someone who had held onto the title through multiple projects, <em>Rocket<\/em> eventually came to symbolize Fike gaining control of where he was headed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBy the time the mixtape arrived in 2025, it had grown far beyond a working title and into a 12-track collection of beloved unreleased songs, fan favorites, and long-requested demos ahead of his next studio album.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tStill, despite a career that spans two EPs, two studio albums, a mixtape, a breakout acting role in HBO\u2019s <em>Euphoria<\/em> that introduced him to an even broader global audience, as well as collaborations with artists from Paul McCartney to JENNIE to Ravyn Lenae, Fike feels as if he\u2019s always behind on releasing music. That ultimately became the driving force behind both <em>Rocket<\/em> and the eight-track EP <em>14 Minutes<\/em> \u2014 a way of finally putting some of the hundreds of songs he\u2019s accumulated into the world while fans await his full-length project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cEven now, I\u2019m having conversations with people about how I don\u2019t release enough music,\u201d Fike says, explaining what pushed him to release the songs now. More than simply having an overwhelming amount of material, he\u2019s driven by the desire to make the kind of music he wants to hear, music that he feels doesn\u2019t yet exist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \"><em>Rocket<\/em> is filled with songs born from that mindset. Long before its official release, the project had become one fans eagerly anticipated, with snippets, unreleased tracks, and live previews circulating online for years, such as \u201cOne Glass,\u201d \u201cSandman,\u201d and \u201cEpilogue.\u201d They were songs Fike wanted out in the world for others to finally discover. With an entire online following built around his unfinished songs, even Fike laughs at the sheer amount of music he\u2019s made that has never been released.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI was talking to my homie Omar Apollo,\u201d he says, \u201cWe were talking about the music we have in the vault, and he was like, \u2018Yeah, dude, I have like 500 songs and I only like four of them.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018Dude, me too.\u2019 Those four songs sometimes change, which means that there\u2019s more than four songs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWith what Fike calls \u201c500 potential contestants\u201d still sitting in the vault, <em>Rocket<\/em> represents the songs that ultimately made the cut after years of constant creation, revising, and refinement. In many ways, the mixtape\u2019s arrival reflects the same journey as its title \u2014 arriving only when the time felt right.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \"><em>Rocket<\/em> may have spent years waiting for its release, but Fike has learned that songs often find listeners on their own timeline. Eight years after its own release, the <em>Don\u2019t Forget About Me, Demos <\/em>track \u201cBabydoll\u201d unexpectedly found a second life, climbing streaming charts and introducing one of his earliest songs to an entirely new audience, even peaking at No. 34 at the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 chart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s really cool,\u201d Fike says. \u201cAt first I was making an album in upstate New York when it happened, and it was just me and like five dudes\u2026 we were in a cabin in hoodies being like, \u2018Oh shit,\u2019 drinking coffee. The initial shock of it was very chill\u2026 and then I got to live out the reality of it happening, which was cool.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFor Fike, the unexpected resurgence of \u201cBabydoll\u201d served as another reminder that songs have a way of choosing their own moment. <em>Rocket<\/em> was no different. Though by the time of its release, \u201cRocket\u201d had also taken on an entirely different meaning for Fike. In April 2026, he confirmed he had become a father to a son, Rocket, later sharing that parenthood had become one of the strongest motivations behind his sobriety and stability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tExtending well beyond his personal life, Fike says he\u2019s also trying to become more intentional before opening the door to new collaborations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhile the people he works with regularly have grown accustomed to his creative habits, Fike confesses that anyone new to the process would probably find it \u201cjarring.\u201d For now, he means to focus on finding stability in his process, while still leaving the possibility open. \u201cSo no future collaborations right now until I\u2019m musically stable, but shit, you never know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBeyond <em>Rocket<\/em>, Fike is also preparing to hit the road. He recently announced the North American leg of his Comedy Tragedy Parody Tour, which runs throughout August and September, following its Australian run that began in December 2025. The dates coincide with his guest appearances during Tame Impala\u2019s Deadbeat Tour as the opening act starting Aug. 25 in Columbus, Ohio until Sept. 19 in Houston, Texas. Moving between the two spaces, Fike is in for a busy couple of months ahead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFatherhood, however, has inevitably changed what touring looks like. Fans have already caught glimpses of that new chapter, including when Fike brought Rocket onstage during his Lollapalooza performance. But, while playing in front of thousands of fans remains much the same, Fike says it\u2019s everything that happens before and after the show that now feels different.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHe further explains, \u201cAs far as touring goes, I mean, yeah, [fatherhood] makes touring a lot harder. I think that\u2019s all it is. As far as schedules go and distance goes \u2014 I think it just makes it harder.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDespite the added challenge, Fike hopes the tour eventually extends well beyond North America. Although he says he isn\u2019t personally involved in sorting through tour offers, Asia sits high on his wish list.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI would love to come to Asia,\u201d he says. \u201cI just need to be asked\u2026 Do I have a large amount of Asian fans and do they want me to come over? Because I would, obviously. I just haven\u2019t received a formal invite. I\u2019m saying, [they should] kind of mobilize a little bit so maybe I could see a visible demand, and we could really make this shake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tShould that invitation eventually arrive, it would mark more than just Fike\u2019s first trip to the region. It could also offer an opportunity to connect more closely with the Filipino side of his heritage \u2014 one that was not a particularly strong part of his own upbringing \u2014 and perhaps share that experience with his son, as he begins building traditions of his own.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAs for what\u2019s next after\u00a0<em>Rocket<\/em>, Fike keeps his answer as simple and mysterious as ever: \u201cWe\u2019re talking\u00a0<em>Game of Thrones<\/em>\u00a0final season. That\u2019s my answer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAs cryptic as his answer may be, it also feels fitting. Much like the word he has carried with him for nearly a decade, Fike isn\u2019t interested in rushing to define what\u2019s next. After all,\u00a0<em>Rocket\u00a0<\/em>itself began as little more than a concept \u2014 an imagined escape from confinement \u2014 never meaning just one thing.
