Rapp was pronounced dead after emergency responders rushed her to the local hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Charles Medina has been arrested in connection with Rapp\u2019s death and charged with manslaughter. The 31-year-old could face up to 20 years in prison under Texas law if convicted.<\/p>\n<p>Rapp was a leading featherweight athlete. She claimed eight victories in her first nine pro bouts and challenged for the World Boxing Council (WBC) women\u2019s featherweight championship in June. Rapp lost to Tiara Brown in the fight for the world title belt. The Indiana native turned pro in 2024 while holding down a full-time job as a fire and life safety inspector.<\/p>\n<p>Tributes to Rapp flooded in from across the pro boxing community this weekend.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-placeholder-wrapper relative w-full border-t border-b border-border-light col-span-full my-3 md:col-span-10 md:col-start-2\">\n<div class=\"mb-[30px] min-h-[30px] text-center\"><span class=\"font-utility-4 font-medium tracking-[1px] text-neutral-500 uppercase\">ADVERTISEMENT<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"ad-placeholder -mt-[30px] mb-[30px] flex min-h-[250px] w-full items-center justify-center\">\n<div class=\"w-full \">\n<div id=\"in-content-leaderboard-in-content-leaderboard-I0-P0-CMI0\" class=\"flex justify-center text-left\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe loss of Hannah Rapp leaves us heartbroken,\u201d said WBC president Mauricio Sulaim\u00e1n said in an official statement. \u201cShe was an exceptional boxer, but above all, an invaluable member of our boxing family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe join in the grief that overwhelms her loved ones, her team, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and supporting her throughout her brilliant career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Guardian<\/em> reported Sunday that Medina\u2019s bond amount has not yet been set.
