{"id":2054009,"date":"2026-07-21T14:08:40","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T11:08:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/analyse.optim.biz\/?p=2054009"},"modified":"2026-07-21T14:08:40","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T11:08:40","slug":"jalen-brunson-says-knicks-havent-discussed-visiting-white-house-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/analyse.optim.biz\/?p=2054009","title":{"rendered":"Jalen Brunson says Knicks haven\u2019t discussed visiting White House yet"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"Article_ContentContainer__jBNW3 article-content-container bodytext1\">\n<p>One month after New York Knicks owner James Dolan said his franchise \u201caccepted\u201d an invitation to the White House to celebrate their NBA championship, Finals MVP Jalen Brunson said the team had not yet talked about a potential visit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s something that we actually haven\u2019t discussed as a team,\u201d Brunson said <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/sports\/news\/jalen-brunson-taylor-swift-wedding-knicks-trump-white-house-1236816653\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">in an interview with Variety<\/a> published Monday. \u201cAnd so obviously people are making assumptions and saying everything, but together we haven\u2019t discussed it yet, and so we\u2019ll cross that bridge when we get to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container\">\n<div class=\"ad-wrapper article-treatment\">\n<div class=\"ad-slug-container\">\n<p class=\"ad-slug\">Advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"mid1\" data-position=\"mid1\" class=\"ad place-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Dolan\u2019s comments came during a June 17 interview with WFAN radio, in which the 71-year-old owner and longtime friend of President Donald Trump said, \u201cWe just did receive an invitation from the White House, which we accepted. We still have to figure out the details.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"top-league-content-root\"><\/div>\n<p>    {&#8220;endpoint&#8221;:&#8221;https:\/\/api-prd-nyt.theathletic.com\/graphql&#8221;}<\/p>\n<p>If the Knicks do visit the White House, they will be the first NBA champions to make the trip while Trump is in office.<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, did not visit, citing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7133873\/2026\/03\/20\/oklahoma-city-thunder-white-house-visit-trump\/\">\u201ctiming issue.\u201d<\/a> The three prior champions \u2014 the Milwaukee Bucks (2021), the Golden State Warriors (2022) and the Boston Celtics (2024) \u2014 visited the White House during President Joe Biden\u2019s administration. During Trump\u2019s first term, the Golden State Warriors did not visit following their championship in 2017, after Stephen Curry said he wouldn\u2019t be interested, and Trump withdrew the invitation. They were not invited after winning the next year.<\/p>\n<p id=\"article-pickem\">\n<p>In June, the White House confirmed that it had been in touch with the Knicks and that it looked forward to hosting the team \u201cat a date to be determined in the near future.\u201d\u00a0<em>The Athletic<\/em> reached out to the White House for comment on Tuesday and did not hear back by the time of publication.<\/p>\n<p>Dolan invited Trump to Game 3 of the NBA Finals, and let Trump use Madison Square Garden for a campaign rally during the 2024 presidential election cycle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is a friend. I\u2019ve known him for 30 years.
