competing at the 2028 Los Angeles Games with his former coach Goran Ivanisevic saying the fact that he \u201cpays attention\u201d to every detail makes it possible.<\/p>\n<p>There is no doubt that the great <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/novak-djokovic\">Djokovic<\/a> is in the final few years of his distinguished career and many continue to question his claim that he will compete at LA28 as he will be 41 by the time the Games take place.<\/p>\n<p>But the 24-time Grand Slam winner has a long history of proving people wrong as he is still playing at the highest level as he finished runner-up at this year\u2019s Australian Open and made it to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/novak-djokovic-makes-candid-retirement-admission-wimbledon-loss-moment-closer-than-ever\">semi-final of Wimbledon recently<\/a> with his run at SW19 coming not long after he turned 39.<\/p>\n<p>Djokovic, though, is part of a rare breed of sports stars who are continuing to dominate their fields despite their age along with the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/novak-djokovic-lionel-messi-share-powerful-exchange-handling-pressure\">football great Lionel Messi (39)<\/a> and NBA star LeBron James (41).<\/p>\n<p>During an interview with Croatia\u2019s Sportske Novosti, Ivanisevic heaped praise on the sporting greats, saying: \u201cAmazing, they are geniuses, there aren\u2019t many of them. They invest a lot, they take care of themselves, they pay attention to every detail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere, Novak pays attention to the playing schedule and in the end the only question is how much he will have left.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Tennis Features<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-features\/carlos-alcaraz-injury-mark-philippoussis-exclusive-interview\">\u2018The tennis world needs Carlos Alcaraz back \u2013 but his injury is complicated\u2019, says Grand Slam finalist<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/novak-djokovic-biggest-competition-us-open-telling-answer\">Novak Djokovic gives telling answer as he reveals his \u2018biggest competition\u2019 for US Open<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But Ivanisevic singled out Djokovic as he believes the fact that the former world No 1 competes as an individual puts him above those who play team sports, like Messi and LeBron.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the difference, because LeBron has four others around him, Messi has ten. Novak has to push himself, push his limits, turn up for training and go through the shots he\u2019s hit eighty billion times over again,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd sometimes you have to ask yourself, \u2018what the f*** is this for?\u2019 It pulls you back in again, you know you can do it, but, I mean, it\u2019s easier in a team sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Djokovic, though, will no doubt continue to ask himself \u201cwhat the f*** is this for\u201d on a daily basis, but he will be quick to remind himself of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/novak-djokovic-so-many-plans-dreams-tennis-icon-reveals-future-goals\">his 2028 Olympic dream<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The big question is whether or not he will make it?<\/p>\n<p>Ivanisevic, who coached the Serbian from 2019 to 2024, believes Djokovic\u2019s shortened schedule works in his favour as the veteran only plays a handful of tournaments each year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s saying he\u2019ll play until the Games in Los Angeles, and we\u2019re talking about two years. Honestly, knowing him, he\u2019s capable of pulling it off with the schedule he\u2019s on, with an incredible, special head on his shoulders,\u201d the 2001 Wimbledon winner said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s possible.
