Due to the severity of the collarbone fracture, surgical intervention has been recommended and will be performed in the coming days. The HC ascent was by far the hardest of the race so far and was touted to be a climb that would shape the final GC.<\/p>\n<p>Vingegaard was the first to fall as the massed peloton sped toward the base of the climb.<\/p>\n<p>His front wheel appeared to slip out as he took a tight bend cluttered with road furniture. He skidded into the verge, and others came down behind him.<\/p>\n<p>The race slowed to regroup in the aftermath of the incident, and Poga\u010dar was seen speaking into his radio.<\/p>\n<p>The stage resumed around a kilometer later, and Remco Evenepoel blasted to a standout mountaintop win.
