and producer closed the opening day of the Belgian festival yesterday (July 17), playing a headline set on the\u00a0main\u00a0stage at\u00a0the\u00a0De\u00a0Schorre\u00a0recreational park in final track of the set, Garrix welcomed The Edge to the stage, with the U2 guitarist playing live as the previously unheard collaboration was unveiled for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>The song features\u00a0Bono\u00a0on vocals and builds towards a repeated chorus of: \u201c<i>Fireflies, you and I are fireflies<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the collaboration after the performance, Garrix work with Bono and The Edge on \u2018We Are The People\u2019, which was released in 2021 as the official song of UEFA Euro 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Garrix also produced\u00a0U2\u2019s \u2018Your Song Saved My Life\u2019,\u00a0which appeared on the soundtrack to the animated film\u00a0<i>Sing 2<\/i>, and\u00a0he\u00a0was also among the writers credited on \u2018Scars\u2019,\u00a0which appeared on\u00a0U2\u2019s surprise \u2018Easter Lily\u2019 EP\u00a0earlier this year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-2\" class=\"lazy-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>U2\u00a0recently shared \u2018Street\u00a0Of\u00a0Dreams\u2019,\u00a0the first preview of their forthcoming 15th studio album.\u00a0Produced by\u00a0Jacknife Lee, the track features The Edge\u2019s trademark guitar sound alongside Spanish lyrics from Bono.\u00a0Its accompanying video was filmed on the roof of a bus in Mexico City, before heavy rain forced the band to continue the performance from a local resident\u2019s balcony.<\/p>\n<p>The clip also features drummer Larry Mullen Jr.,\u00a0who missed the band\u2019s Las Vegas Sphere residency in 2023 and 2024 after undergoing surgery.<\/p>\n<p>U2 have already released two EPs of new material this year\u00a0\u2013\u00a0the\u00a0politically\u00a0focused \u2018Days Of Ash\u2019 arrived in February, before the more \u201cpersonal, private and reflective\u201d \u2018Easter Lily\u2019 followed on Good Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the forthcoming full-length album when \u2018Easter Lily\u2019 was released, Bono said: \u201cWe are in the studio, still working towards a noisy, messy, \u2018unreasonably colour xerox\u2019 album to play LIVE\u2026 which is where U2 lives. We still look to vivid rock\u2019n\u2019roll as an act of resistance against all this awfulness on our small screens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The as-yet-untitled record will be U2\u2019s first full album of newly written material since 2017\u2019s \u2018Songs\u00a0Of\u00a0Experience\u2019. They also released \u2018Songs\u00a0Of\u00a0Surrender\u2019,\u00a0a collection of re-recorded songs from their back catalogue, in 2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"td_block_wrap final track of the set, Garrix welcomed The Edge to the stage, with the U2 guitarist playing live as the previously unheard collaboration was unveiled for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>The song features\u00a0Bono\u00a0on vocals and builds towards a repeated chorus of: \u201c<i>Fireflies, you and I are fireflies<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the collaboration after the performance, Garrix Life\u2019,\u00a0which appeared on the soundtrack to the animated film\u00a0<i>Sing 2<\/i>, and\u00a0he\u00a0was also among the writers credited on \u2018Scars\u2019,\u00a0which appeared first preview of their forthcoming 15th studio album.\u00a0Produced by\u00a0Jacknife Lee, the track features The Edge\u2019s trademark guitar sound alongside Spanish lyrics from Bono.\u00a0Its accompanying video was filmed on the roof of a bus in Mexico City, before heavy rain forced the band to continue the performance from a local resident\u2019s balcony.<\/p>\n<p>The clip also features drummer Larry Mullen Jr.,\u00a0who missed the band\u2019s Las Vegas Sphere residency in 2023 and 2024 after undergoing surgery.<\/p>\n<p>U2 have already released two EPs of new material this year\u00a0\u2013\u00a0the\u00a0politically\u00a0focused \u2018Days Of Ash\u2019 arrived in February, before the more \u201cpersonal, private and reflective\u201d \u2018Easter Lily\u2019 followed on Good Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the forthcoming full-length album when \u2018Easter Lily\u2019 was released, Bono said: \u201cWe are in the studio, still working towards a noisy, messy, \u2018unreasonably colour xerox\u2019 album to play LIVE\u2026 which is where U2 lives. We still look to vivid rock\u2019n\u2019roll as an act of resistance against all this awfulness on our small screens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The as-yet-untitled record will be U2\u2019s first full album of newly written material since 2017\u2019s \u2018Songs\u00a0Of\u00a0Experience\u2019.
