Watch the interview in full above.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>READ MORE: Chloe Slater isn\u2019t afraid to tell you how she feels<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Manchester-based artist caught up with us at Mad Cool 2026 last week, shortly before she took to the stage in the Cinco Estrellas tent on Thursday (July 9). Her slot at the Madrid festival comes ahead of her releasing her highly anticipated first record on October 9.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <em>NME<\/em>, Slater revealed that much of the upcoming LP tackles that feeling of being disillusioned and jaded by the political world around us, but persevering regardless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe title comes from a lyric on one of the songs on the album called \u2018Hopeless\u2019, and it\u2019s about when you\u2019re young, and you feel like you can do anything,\u201d the former <em>NME Cover<\/em> star explained.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cYou go and you do the protests, you vote for action and change, and you really try. But as you get older, you keep voting in these elections and you don\u2019t see any real change. You go to the protests and nothing is working, and you\u2019re still disadvantaged in life\u2026 it can be really hard to keep up that passion and not get burnt out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued: \u201cI don\u2019t think the album is exclusively for young people, despite \u2018youth\u2019 being in the title. You need to feel shocked, but that\u2019s difficult in a time where news is constantly accessible and coming out every minute.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s good to filter yourself from social media and look at trusted news channels, rather than everything on Instagram. Slater has spoken to <em>NME<\/em> about how she is becoming \u201cdesensitised\u201d to politics and social media, while discussing the inspiration\u00a0behind her debut album \u2018Riot Youth\u2019 and more. Watch the interview in full above.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>READ MORE: Chloe Slater isn\u2019t afraid to tell you how she feels<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Manchester-based artist caught up with us at Mad Cool 2026 last week, shortly before she took to the stage in the Cinco Estrellas tent on Thursday (July 9). Her slot at the Madrid festival comes ahead of her releasing her highly anticipated first record on October 9.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <em>NME<\/em>, Slater revealed that much of the upcoming LP tackles that feeling of being disillusioned and jaded by the political world around us, but persevering regardless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe title comes from a lyric on one of the songs on the album called \u2018Hopeless\u2019, and it\u2019s about when you\u2019re young, and you feel like you can do anything,\u201d the former <em>NME Cover<\/em> star explained.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cYou go and you do the protests, you vote for action and change, and you really try. But as you get older, you keep voting in these elections and you don\u2019t see any real change. You go to the protests and nothing is working, and you\u2019re still disadvantaged in life\u2026 it can be really hard to keep up that passion and not get burnt out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued: \u201cI don\u2019t think the album is exclusively for young people, despite \u2018youth\u2019 being in the title.
