It also has an Aston Martin badge on it (a company famous for its sleek supercars and grand tourers, not for securing MoD contracts) which is odd. And yes, we know it already makes the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-reviews\/aston-martin\/dbx\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"05c5e5ca-120f-4fe2-9256-a29d8ef67ebb\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Aston Martin DBX\">DBX SUV<\/a>\u2026 but that\u2019s nothing like this.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s called the Aston Martin Dreadnought, which a) suggests Aston may have run out of names beginning with V and b) is extremely cool, given it shares a name with the revolutionary HMS Dreadnought, that rewrote the rule book on naval warfare in the early 1900s. Although, we can\u2019t help thinking Aston missed a trick not calling it the DBXXL.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>It\u2019s the latest in a long line of cartoonish, OEM-designed cars born for the digital world and freed from the constraints of physics. Most have appeared as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-news\/gaming\/heres-every-gran-turismo-concept-worth-caring-about\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"bb2b4fb8-8540-4ed9-b234-7ba9aeb93587\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Here&apos;s every Gran Turismo concept worth caring about\">Vision Gran Turismo concepts<\/a>, often with physical models to back up the pixels. Stuff like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-news\/gaming\/exclusive-audience-bugatti-vision-gt\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"9a3d3ba7-66eb-4ba4-9003-f36ffab29ff2\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"An exclusive audience with the Bugatti Vision GT\">Bugatti Vision GT<\/a> that previewed the Chiron, the 400mph 2,500bhp <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-news\/gaming\/meet-srts-2590bhp-vision-gt\">Dodge SRT Tomahawk X<\/a>, Adrian Newey\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-news\/gaming\/vettel-nails-red-bull-x1\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"b616d22f-5714-4320-8d53-e2fbdfe4194f\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Vettel nails the Red Bull &apos;X1&apos;\">Red Bull X1<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-news\/gaming\/its-mclarens-ultimate-gran-turismo-racecar\">McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo<\/a>. In fact, the McLaren actually went into production as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-reviews\/mclaren\/solus-gt\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"a8cf2e84-d0b5-481e-8147-41dcef25e374\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"McLaren Solus GT\">Solus GT<\/a>\u2026\u00a0so there\u2019s always hope Aston might do the same.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a collaboration between the developers of the new <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4<\/em> game and Aston\u2019s own design department, so you\u2019ll be able to \u2018drive\u2019 it when the game launches in October. In the meantime, they\u2019ve built a physical model, because why the hell not.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>It has enormous off-road tyres, more ground clearance than a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-news\/big-reads\/one-best-vehicles-ive-ever-driven-welcome-77-litre-hellgeth-unimog\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"4088daa2-4bd3-4e3f-80a4-1ae0a429be2d\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"&quot;One of the best vehicles I&apos;ve ever driven&quot;: welcome to the 7.7-litre Hellgeth Unimog\">Unimog<\/a>, a reserve fuel tank, bespoke weapons storage, enough spotlights to illuminate Wembley Stadium, military-grade armour plating and \u2018adaptive combat zone intelligence systems\u2019 whatever those are. So far so warzone-ready, and yet there\u2019s herringbone weave on the exterior carbon fibre, an Oxford tan leather dashboard and door hinges finished in anodised satin gold\u2026 the juxtaposition is wild.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s actual Aston DNA in the design too, if you squint a bit. Look at that signature raised lip on the bonnet\u2019s leading edge, the pinched-in waistline, ducktail spoiler (Inspired by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-reviews\/aston-martin\/victor\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"618da4f8-ee1a-45af-9a2a-5f83745f42c0\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Aston Martin Victor\">Victor<\/a> we reckon) and ginormous quad exhausts. And then there\u2019s the stuff that stretches reality a bit: the Dakar-style twin dampers at each corner, totally exposed rear wheels (that means stone chips for every other car within a mile radius) and the cameras for wing mirrors.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll note there\u2019s no actual interior on the model, but we do have some in-game renders of the surprisingly luxurious insides. Lots of leather, a long sweep of screen for all your\u2026 tactical stuff, and chunky physical controls in the centre console along with removable storage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>And there\u2019s theory behind the fun, too. This exercise is about introducing Aston Martin &#8211; what it looks and feels like, what it stands for &#8211; to a new generation who might be teenagers eating Cheetos and playing Xbox in their bedroom today, but the AI billionaires of tomorrow. And which brand will be giving them warm fuzzy feelings?
