--><\/p>\n<p>Iga Swiatek has been told that she \u201clacks that positive attitude\u201d that helped her to win Grand Slams and become world No 1 with her Billie Jean King Cup captain suggesting she accepts \u201cit all too quickly\u201d when things are not going her way.<\/p>\n<p>The six-time major winner\u2019s Wimbledon title defence came to a disappointing end in the third round as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/alex-eala-wta-rankings-milestone-wimbledon-win-iga-swiatek-drops\">she slumped to a 7-6 (11-9), 6-2 defeat<\/a> at the hands of rising Philippines star Alex Eala.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/iga-swiatek\">Swiatek<\/a> has not reached a final in 2026, let alone win a trophy, with her best run coming at the Italian Open where she made it to the semi-final. Her last title was in September when she won the Korea Open.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/iga-swiatek-wimbledon-loss-hard-to-accept-promises-back-to-basics\">Her recent performances<\/a> have raised alarm bells with Dawid Celt, who knows Swiatek well as he has worked with Poland\u2019s Billie Jean King Cup team since 2018, says she lacks the fighting spirit.<\/p>\n<h2>WTA News<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-features\/iga-swiatek-wimbledon-loss-alex-eala-agnieszka-radwanska-exclusive\">Agnieszka Radwanska reveals what \u2018worried\u2019 her about Iga Swiatek\u2019s Wimbledon exit<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-features\/wta-rankings-points-sabalenka-rybakina-swiatek-gauff-raducanu-eala-drop-north-american-swing\">WTA Rankings: Points Sabalenka, Swiatek, Gauff, Raducanu, Eala will drop during North American swing<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Iga is starting to accept what\u2019s going on around her a little too much,\u201d he said on the Break Point YouTube channel. \u201cThat fighting spirit, that attitude, is missing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe forgets that she\u2019s Iga Swiatek. Even though she\u2019s going through a rough patch, a rough time, she\u2019s a girl who\u2019s achieved practically everything in tennis \u2013 an Olympic medal, Grand Slam titles, she was number one. (\u2026) Iga accepts it all too quickly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe lacks that positive attitude to go out and show: \u2018Okay, I\u2019m going through a rough patch, but that doesn\u2019t mean anything. I\u2019m rebuilding here, I want to, I\u2019m trying.\u2019 That\u2019s what I\u2019m missing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Swiatek has dropped to No 8 in the WTA Rankings and she has 1,550 points to defend during the upcoming North American swing as she won the Cincinnati Open last year.<\/p>\n<p>But there is an even bigger concern as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/wta-rankings-race-to-riyadh-mirra-andreeva-no-1-iga-swiatek-12th\">she has slipped to No 12 in the WTA Rankings Race<\/a> to Indian Wells and is in danger of failing to qualify for the first time since she made her debut in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Former Polish tennis player Marcin Matkowski agreed with Celt as he believes Swiatek looks like someone who is a \u201ccontender\u201d and not a champion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not that she doesn\u2019t exude enough confidence, because a tennis player can always have better or worse moments, but there\u2019s simply not enough visibility of what a great tennis player she is, what a star she is, what she\u2019s achieved,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like she\u2019s been looking like a \u2018contender\u2019 lately, meaning she\u2019s trying to achieve something, when it should be the other way around. Her opponent should be nervous, not Iga.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What about the 25-year-old\u2019s chance of winning the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/us-open\">US Open<\/a> or other big events?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIga is capable of winning bigger tournaments, but for us to truly believe it, she has to do it,\u201d Matkowski added. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to say she\u2019s a favourite to win Slams when, apart from winning Wimbledon last year, she hasn\u2019t won much.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026The WTA Race rankings are a reflection of where Iga is. Saying she\u2019ll win Slams doesn\u2019t make sense to me right now. She\u2019s capable of it, but there\u2019s still a long way to go.
