The Canadian franchise announced that the heavily anticipated reunion transaction will remain paused until the conclusion of the league’s ongoing investigation into the Los Angeles Clippers‘ financial partnerships.

The trade, which was structured to send Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two unprotected first-round draft picks, a 2027 pick swap, and two second-round selections to Los Angeles, stalled after the NBA mandated that Toronto would assume full liability for any potential disciplinary outcomes. The league’s probe centers on allegations that Leonard signed a $28 million USD “no-show” endorsement contract with the now-bankrupt environmental financial technology company Aspiration, which allegedly served to circumvent the salary cap.
