After nine brutally hot and chaotic stages, we\u2019ve made it to the first rest day of the 2026 Tour de France.<\/p>\n

Naturally, there has been no shortage of drama and excitement in this edition. We saw a much happier, Jonas Vingegaard land back in yellow for the first time since 2023 after a blistering fast TTT on stage 1.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The change in Vingegaard\u2019s usual program is showing not only a stronger, more motivated rider but also a rider who appears to be in a much more content state, mentally.<\/p>\n

We also saw two first time Tour stage winners in Isaac del Toro (stage 2) and Olav Kooij (stage 5) plus we\u2019ve had three race leaders (Vingegaard, Tadej Poga\u010dar and Torstein Tr\u00e6en) over the course of 9 stages.<\/p>\n

One thing is clear so far from this year\u2019s Tour de France: The future of cycling is bright with loads of young talent age 25 or younger in the top 10 of the general classification. Six riders to be exact have found themselves in this position.<\/p>\n

Del Toro (22) in 3rd, Juan Ayuso (23) in 5th, Paul Seixas (19) in 6th, Florian Lipowitz (25) in 7th, Lenny Martinez (23) in 8th and Mattias Skjelmose (25) in 9th.<\/p>\n

However, despite there being two more weeks of racing to come, it still feels like Poga\u010dar\u2019s race to lose. Will the current race leader see his 2:42 gap grow significantly or will Vingegaard (or his own teammate) flip the script this year?<\/p>\n
