Watch the full interview above.<\/p>\n<p>Grohl made the comments during an appearance on BBC Radio 6Music earlier this month, when he was asked to choose the album he considered to be a masterpiece. <\/p>\n<p>He then named the alt-rock legends\u2019 1988 debut and explained: \u201cI love that record so much for a number of reasons. One, it was produced by the almighty Steve Albini. And it was maybe the first album to become popular and showcase his incredible engineering technique.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also praised Pixies frontman Black Francis\u2019 lyrics, which are often surreal and macabre: \u201cHis lyrics\u2026 kind of tethered back and forth from abstract intellectual to things that just sounded so absurd and almost, like, dumb in a way\u2026 His voice and Kim Deal, their two voices together \u2013 it was just such a wonderful blend. And it was unusual at the time. Satisfied with the word \u201cperfect\u201d, he joked: \u201cAs long as he didn\u2019t say \u2018great!\u2019 He\u2019s right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pixies explained that they don\u2019t know Grohl personally, despite their bands having had parallel careers since the \u201890s, and that their interactions are limited to airports and shows that they\u2019ve both played.<\/p>\n<p>The band were then asked what the \u201cperfect\u201d Foo Fighters record is. Same formula.
