Tadej Poga\u010dar has won more than nine teams, one sport director is being naughty, and the race has suffered one high-profile DNF.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s the top-line summary of the prize monies, penalties, and abandons of the first block of the Tour de France.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s who\u2019s winning and losing as the Tour takes a rest after 9 stages of unprecedently hot, stupidly fast racing.<\/p>\n

Poga\u010dar heads into the Tour\u2019s first rest day with a whopper 2:42 GC lead over Jonas Vingegaard. Pogi\u2019s UAE Emirates-XRG teammate Isaac del Toro is in third at 3:27.<\/p>\n

ASO awards prize money daily and at the end of the Tour de France for stage placings, classification positions, and miscellaneous mid-race primes<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A total purse of \u20ac2,302,800 ($2,364,000 USD) is up for grabs.<\/p>\n

With three stage wins, five days in yellow, and leads in the KOM and youth categories, it\u2019s no surprise the UAE supersquad is raking in the prize money.<\/p>\n

Poga\u010dar\u2019s team has won \u20ac69,980 ($80,000 USD). That\u2019s more than the combined total winnings of the 12 lowest-earning teams.<\/p>\n

Poga\u010dar himself has netted just north of \u20ac40,000 \u2013 more than the nine lowest-earning teams.<\/p>\n

Lidl-Trek is up next with \u20ac38,570 courtesy of Mads Pedersen\u2019s stage win and time wearing the green points jersey. Visma-Lease a Bike is third with \u20ac31,700.<\/p>\n

One surprise winner of week 1? Lotto-Intermarch\u00e9.<\/p>\n

The team looked doomed when its sprinter, Arnaud de Lie, abandoned, sick. But the team turned it around with breakaway artist Baptiste Veistroffer and sprint hopeful Huub Artz.<\/p>\n

The scrappy Belgian team collected a total of \u20ac18,960 from miscellaneous primes<\/em> and stage placings in the first \u201cweek\u201d on Tour.<\/p>\n

Lastly, spare a thought for the four teams that have not broken \u20ac5k at this Tour de France. That won\u2019t even cover their petrol money.<\/p>\n

ASO has doled out a total of \u20ac359,350 ($411,000 USD) in prize money as of the first rest day. Cycling\u2019s governing body the UCI has clawed \u20ac9,850 ($11,000) of that away with fines.<\/p>\n

A total of 28 infractions were noted by commissaires through the first nine stages of the race. And it seems that team staff were the baddies. Sport directors and mechanics accounted for 16 of the 28 punishments handed down by the UCI so far.<\/p>\n

Of the remaining 12 offenses, eight were committed by riders and four by TV moto drivers in the convoy.<\/p>\n

A total of eight yellow cards have been handed down.<\/p>\n

Sticky bottles, littering, and illegal vehicle movement in the convoy were the most common themes in jurors\u2019 daily reports.<\/p>\n

One thing that\u2019s not been cited by commissaires [yet]? Peeing in water bottles. Maybe the peloton wised-up after Victor Campenaerts made himself the center of \u201cpee-gate\u201d at the Giro d\u2019Italia.<\/p>\n

And no, we\u2019ve not had any illegal nipples, either. Mathieu van der Poel was famously fined for showing his chest while on the TT \u201chotseat\u201d at the Tour de Suisse last month.<\/p>\n

Talking of MVDP \u2013 his staffers at Alpecin-Premier Tech keep being naughty.<\/p>\n

Head DS Christoph Roodhooft owes \u20ac1,200 for three different offenses in nine days. He\u2019s also been shown a yellow card. Roodhooft\u2019s colleague Fredrik Willems is close behind with \u20ac1,000 for two infractions.<\/p>\n

Just as well Van der Poel earned the team at least \u20ac11k with his thriller stage 9 win.<\/p>\n

Eight riders have left the Tour de France early.<\/p>\n

The most notable of those were former yellow jersey wearer Torstein Tr\u00e6en (Uno-X Mobility \u2013 concussion and fractures) and GC hopeful Cian Uijtdebroeks (Movistar \u2013 sickness).<\/p>\n

De Lie (Lotto), Cl\u00e9ment Berthet (Groupama FDJ), Kelland O\u2019Brien (Jayco AlUla), Alex Molenaar (Caja Rural Saguaros RGA), Bert Van Lerberghe (Soudal Quick-Step), and Arvid de Kleijn (Tudor) are the remaining six who didn\u2019t make the first rest day.<\/p>\n
