majors.<\/p>\n<p>For the first week of the tournament, many competitors limited their contractual media commitments to 15 minutes as they felt the overall prize fund of \u00a364.2m wasn\u2019t enough.<\/p>\n<p>Despite prize money increasing by 20% from last year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/wimbledon\">Wimbledon<\/a> to this year\u2019s, players\u2019 hopes of receiving 22% of the tournament\u2019s revenue share were dashed, with those in the draw getting around 15% instead.<\/p>\n<p>And perhaps their concerns over prize money are most salient when it comes to the grass court major. Add us as<span>\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=tennis365.com\" target=\"_blank\">a preferred source on Google to your favourites list<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>for tennis coverage you can trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the UK, tax rules mean that international sportsmen and women have to pay tax on their winnings \u2013 something that is not the case at the French Open, Australian Open, and US Open.<\/p>\n<p>According to accountancy firm <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/money\/tax\/hmrc-17m-wimbledon-record-prize-pot\/?msockid=0b9919ba73646d7e15980a8a72536caa\" target=\"_blank\">Blick Rothenberg<\/a>, those tax deductions impact prize money, any UK-specific sponsorship or promotional appearances, and a proportion of image and marketing rights incoming that comes from their time in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the 2025 winners, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jannik-sinner\">Sinner<\/a> and Iga Swiatek, saw around \u00a31.3m of their \u00a33m in prize money wiped out by taxes, as any earnings over \u00a3125,140 are taxed at the additional rate of 45%.<\/p>\n<p>HM Revenue and Customs reportedly raked in an estimated \u00a317m of the 2025 prize pool of \u00a353.5m and with this year\u2019s pot rising more than \u00a310m, that \u00a33.6m fund will get heavily eaten into again.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Djoko_UTD\/status\/2076033678971658511\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a>, women\u2019s title winner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/linda-noskova\">Noskova<\/a>, who beat\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/karolina-muchova\">Karolina Muchova<\/a> 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 on Saturday, and Sinner will see HMRC take around \u00a31.6m of that.<\/p>\n<p>Then when you factor in the hundreds of thousands spent on a players\u2019 entourage, agents, and more, estimates suggest Noskova and Sinner, who beat\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/alexander-zverev\">Alexander Zverev<\/a> 6-7, 7-6, 6-4, 6-4, could see that \u00a33.6m shrink to around \u00a31.4m.<\/p>\n<p>For a fortnight\u2019s work, it is still a very good pay day.
