Navratilova called for a major shake-up to the rules during Naomi Osaka\u2019s Wimbledon match against Karolina Muchova.<\/p>\n<p>Navratilova, who won the Wimbledon singles titles a record nine times, suggested let calls should be scrapped after Osaka benefitted on serve.<\/p>\n<p>At present, if a players\u2019 serve hits the net and lands inside the service box, the player gets their first serve back and the match is restarted.<\/p>\n<p>Navratilova believes the match should continue as play is rarely ever changed too much if a big serve clips the net.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on BBC\u2019s coverage of the Grand Slam, Navratilova said:\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cDo away with that let cord, you know I talk about it all the time. Nobody\u2019s moving forward on that, get rid of it, it\u2019s useless! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cNo play the let, play the ball, it\u2019s a live ball. Every once in a while you get that dribbler that would be an ace, but that happens once every three matches, so just play. Most of the lets are just a little nick. It\u2019s luck isn\u2019t it? If you get a lucky net cord, it\u2019s just a part of it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lloyd was equally in favour of scrapping what he feels is an outdated rule. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt also takes the umpires out of the firing line as well,\u201d said Lloyd, who won the 1982 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/roland-garros\">Roland Garros<\/a> mixed doubles title, as well as back-to-back <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/wimbledon\">Wimbledon<\/a> titles in 1983 and 1984. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cYou\u2019ve got to play every ball,\u201d he continued. \u201cThey\u2019ve missed some lets this week and some of them have been on quite big points as well. They\u2019ve done away with [tremblers] at the Slams.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/arthur-fery\">Arthur Fery\u2019s<\/a> semi-final match against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/alexander-zverev\">Alexander Zverev<\/a> was marred by several missed let calls. Fery believed there was three times where the umpire missed the calls, and he even suggest Zverev agreed with one of them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought that there were a lot of lets, three in total, that she didn\u2019t call. Sascha heard one of them, as well, that he told me he heard a let,\u201d said Fery in his post-match press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe umpire was trying to tell me that it was coming out of the microphone, not out of the actual hitting the net. I mean, I\u2019m not one to complain on court and I\u2019m not one to hear poorly. Yeah, I\u2019m pretty sure that she missed some net cords.
