Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe moved fast to present a united front between its two co-leaders Friday after Evenepoel threw shade at Lipowitz in the aftermath of Thursday\u2019s stage.<\/p>\n
Evenepoel had gotten spicy with his teammate after Tadej Poga\u010dar blew the race apart in the Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es.<\/p>\n
\u201cI asked for a lead-out and didn\u2019t get one,\u201d Evenepoel said Thursday. \u201cI was angry, and rightly so.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the Volta a Catalunya, I led the way for him [i.e., Lipowitz<\/em>] for 30 kilometers. I asked him to lead for one kilometer, but that didn\u2019t happen. That made me angry,\u201d Evenepoel said after Thursday\u2019s mountain stage.<\/p>\n It was an outburst that no doubt proved worrisome for the Red Bull-Bora-Hansghrohe P.R. machine.<\/p>\n Its debut as a bona-fide<\/em> Tour de France superteam was going off the rails before the first rest day.<\/p>\n Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe posted a reel to Instagram ahead of stage 7 on Friday to make it clear \u2013 Remco and Lipo are chill.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re all good. You speak, and you forget,\u201d Evenepoel said in a video filmed on the team bus.<\/p>\n \u201cYes, yes. Fourth for me, sixth for Lipo, that\u2019s pretty good,\u201d Evenepoel said Friday. \u201cThere were still two guys a bit in front, but we came in with all the other favorites for the podium, so that\u2019s a good day for us.<\/p>\n \u201cThe first mountain stage is always special, but we managed to do it well.\u201d<\/p>\n “you two WILL do a nice video together for socials so help me god” — rbbh pr pic.twitter.com\/IAa8nNemfR<\/p>\n \u2014 j \ud83d\udc0a\ud83e\udd84 i ve never complained (@_carlovino) July 10, 2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n Lipowitz concurred.<\/p>\n \u201cWe can be happy with yesterday,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The reconciliation apparently smooths over any cracks in a leadership duo that\u2019s been under the spotlight since way before this Tour de France.<\/p>\n Lipowitz and Evenepoel have both finished third behind Poga\u010dar and Jonas Vingegaard at the Tour: Evenepoel with Quick-Step in 2024, Lipowitz with Red Bull in 2025.<\/p>\n Evenepoel\u2019s multi-million-dollar move to the ambitious German team this winter threw an awkward dynamic in the mix.<\/p>\n How he and Lipowitz would coordinate (or not) was a Tour de France subplot\u00a0that bubbled to the surface when Poga\u010dar blew everybody\u2019s legs off in the Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es.<\/p>\n Team CEO Ralph Denk downplayed any tension when he spoke Thursday night on the Inside Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe<\/em> podcast.<\/p>\n \u201cThere was a bit of disagreement and a language barrier, but it happened in the heat of the moment,\u201d Denk said. \u201cIt was not a big thing.<\/p>\n \u201cI saw them afterward and they had spoken about it. They sat together at dinner and were laughing. The subject is being made much bigger than it really was,\u201d Denk said.<\/p>\n Evenepoel and Red Bull DS Zak Dempster both separately followed up in interviews ahead of stage 7: Remco\u2019s outburst was the product of a racing red-mist, not a leadership rift.<\/p>\n \u201cEverything has been cleared up,\u201d Evenepoel told Het Laatste Nieuws<\/i> on Friday. \u201cWhat happened yesterday is in the past. We can look forward again.\u201d<\/p>\n And now there\u2019s the footage to prove it.<\/p>\n Evenepoel is currently fourth behind Poga\u010dar at 3:30, just 3 seconds off the podium.
