Roddick admits there has been a \u201cshift\u201d in tennis for Novak Djokovic, but warned that anyone who suggests the tennis great should retire should \u201cshut up\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>For the second consecutive year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/novak-djokovic-hits-out-reporter-jannik-sinner-wimbledon\">Djokovic came up short against Jannik Sinner<\/a> in the semi-final as he once again lost in straight sets against the world No 1.<\/p>\n<p>The Serbian appeared to regain his title-winning form when he reached this year\u2019s Australian Open after beating Sinner in the semi-final, but then lost against Carlos Alcaraz before making a shock third-round exit from the French Open.<\/p>\n<p>The 39-year-old\u2019s latest defeat to Sinner at the All England Club means his wait for a 25th Grand Slam continues with his last major success coming at the 2023 US Open when he beat Daniil Medvedev.<\/p>\n<p>Naturally, when Djokovic fails to win a major, there is speculation about his future and some believe he has now fallen too far behind the likes of Sinner, Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev.<\/p>\n<h2>Wimbledon News<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a should quit should \u201cshut up\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Novak for so long was that guy who everyone had to play perfectly against to beat him, right, and that includes the best players in the world,\u201d he said on the latest <a rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=O5FZ6lxno2U\">Served with Andy Roddick podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow I think he is the one that has to play perfectly against a couple of guys to get that win and I think that\u2019s the shift.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s playing part-time tennis and he\u2019s still making the semis of majors. He made a final in a semi in the last three majors. It\u2019s absurd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the one point, it\u2019s so hard to do\u2026 like that\u2019s a career year for great players, a lot of really great players. I\u2019m going to offer you the simplest solution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf his family likes travelling, if he still likes playing, he seemed happy in his press conference. It wasn\u2019t as if, you know, I don\u2019t know that he gets run out of the building and he\u2019s devastated. You know, it didn\u2019t come off that way. I saw a couple of clips and he was pretty matter-of-fact. He might just enjoy it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know, I don\u2019t think anyone should weigh in about when he should stop. I know there\u2019s going to be an article tomorrow somewhere where some jackass is going to say, \u2018He should stop\u2019. Shut up, he\u2019s so much better than you currently than you will ever be at your job. That\u2019s ridiculous.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think he\u2019ll ever let it get to like that tragic state where there\u2019s three second-round losses in a row. I just don\u2019t see that happening and he\u2019s too good.
