vapour chamber with the largest battery ever in a Nothing smartphone at 6,000mAh

A 50MP OIS main camera with Ultra XDR imaging composites 13 RAW frames for expanded dynamic range, while the 6.77-inch Super AMOLED display reaches 2,000 nits peak brightness with HDR10+ support

The Ear (3a) introduces 32 MB of onboard flash storage enabling Audio Snapshot and direct call recording, alongside a redesigned 12mm dynamic driver and LDAC certification at 24-bit/96kHz

Nothing has unveiled two new products: the Phone (4b), the London-based brand’s first smartphone in its new (b) series, and the Ear (3a), the next generation of its bestselling (a) series earbuds. The Phone (4b) builds on the Phone (4a) series by fusing the Glyph Bar design language with the acclaimed unibody construction of the Phone (4a) Pro, running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor and shipping with a 6,000mAh battery, a 50MP OIS camera, and a 6.77-inch Super AMOLED display. The Ear (3a), meanwhile, introduces 32 MB of built-in flash storage powering new Audio Snapshot and call recording capabilities, a larger 12mm dynamic driver, and 45 dB Wideband Active Noise Cancellation. Together, the two launches expand Nothing’s accessible product tiers with flagship-adjacent hardware across both categories.

The Phone (4b)’s construction reflects a distillation of Nothing’s design philosophy across more than 20 internal iterations. A crystal-clear soft polymer camera module features smooth 3D curved edges that transition into an eco-polycarbonate unibody, finished with a durable three-layer coating engineered for a fingerprint-resistant feel. The device is rated to withstand up to 600 Newtons of bending force and carries an IP64 certification for dust and water resistance. Available in Black, White, and Blue, each colorway is calibrated to showcase Nothing’s signature transparent architecture. A limited RCB Edition, finished in an exclusive red colorway with bespoke Royal Challengers Bengaluru branding and collector’s edition packaging, marks the first official RCB smartphone collaboration and is available exclusively through Nothing’s Flagship Store in Bengaluru.

At the core of the Phone (4b) sits Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, a 4nm mobile processor that pushes AnTuTu scores past the one-million mark and delivers performance the brand positions close to its Phone (4a). The chipset pairs with Qualcomm’s 6th Generation AI Engine, accelerating on-device tasks across photography, voice recognition, and Nothing’s full Essential AI suite without relying on cloud processing for core functions. Thermal output is managed by a bespoke 4,400mm² vapour chamber with a precision architecture mapped to the device’s internal layout. Nothing claims this keeps the Phone (4b) running up to 2°C cooler under demanding workloads, reducing thermal throttling during extended gaming and 4K video recording. The brand cites support for up to 90 FPS in titles like BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile, and 120 FPS in Subway Surfers and League of Legends: Wild Rift.

The 6,000mAh battery represents the largest cell Nothing has placed in a smartphone to date. Built with the brand’s impact-resistant Safe Cell Technology, it retains up to 90% capacity after 1,200 charge cycles, translating to roughly three years of daily use. Charging runs at 33W wired, reaching 50% in under 30 minutes and a full charge in just over an hour. Nothing rates the Phone (4b) for up to 18 hours of mixed usage (one hour more than the Phone (4a)), alongside up to 22 hours of YouTube playback and 26 hours of Instagram browsing.

The camera system centers on a 50MP OIS main sensor paired with a 119° ultrawide lens and a 360° ambient light sensor. Optical and electronic image stabilisation work in tandem with AI anti-shake processing to stabilise both stills and video. Nothing’s TrueLens Engine 4 powers Ultra XDR imaging, a computational photography pipeline that composites 13 RAW frames into a single exposure for brighter highlights, richer shadow detail, and more accurate colour reproduction than conventional HDR processing. Video capabilities include 4K recording at 30fps and a dual capture mode that allows simultaneous recording from the front and rear cameras, with a repositionable selfie window for creative flexibility. A suite of creative tools rounds out the camera offering, including Disco and DV filters, Signature Presets, and a Playground mode for experimental compositions.

The 6.77-inch Super AMOLED display operates at a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate with 1,200 nits of outdoor brightness and a 2,000-nit peak, supported by HDR10+. Per-pixel light control enables deep blacks and accurate colour reproduction, while a 1,000Hz instant touch sampling rate ensures responsive input during gaming. The Glyph Bar returns in a refined configuration, housing 45 individually controlled mini-LEDs with brightness reaching 3,500 nits to surface notifications, charging progress, and personalised alerts at a glance. On the software side, Nothing OS 4.1 runs on Android 16 with refined animations, the brand’s 160-level volume control, a new Soundscape Widget, and three years of Android updates alongside six years of security patches. The Essential AI tools integrate native ChatGPT access across the UI, clipboard, and widgets, alongside Google Gemini, Circle to Search, and Hey Google. Audio output is handled by true dual stereo speakers that Nothing says deliver a 20% improved stereo effect over the Phone (4a).

Launching alongside the Phone (4b), the Ear (3a) represents the next generation of Nothing’s bestselling (a) series and introduces a hardware feature new to the lineup: 32 MB of onboard flash storage. That storage powers two recording capabilities. Audio Snapshot allows users to capture audio moments by pinching both earbuds simultaneously, recording both before and after the trigger to create what Nothing describes as an audio “screenshot.” Recordings sync automatically to the Nothing X app, where they can be replayed, edited, shared, and transcribed, with the option to convert key transcript moments into shareable quote cards. Separately, the Ear (3a) supports direct call and meeting recording from the earbuds for up to approximately two hours via a gesture-based trigger, without requiring the connected phone. A privacy notification alerts all participants whenever recording is active.

The acoustic system is built around a new 12mm dynamic driver that produces bass frequencies up to 5 dB stronger than the previous generation, paired with a lightweight aerospace-inspired PMI diaphragm for high-frequency clarity. The Ear (3a) carries Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification and supports LDAC at up to 24-bit/96kHz for higher-fidelity playback. Static Spatial Audio expands the stereo image into a wider soundstage, and an 8-band equaliser in the Nothing X app offers granular sound shaping with profile sharing capabilities.

Noise cancellation operates at up to 45 dB via a Wideband Active Noise Cancellation system with improved acoustic mesh and a refined ANC algorithm targeting stronger reduction between 400 Hz and 2,000 Hz. Nothing reports a 17.1% improvement in overall noise cancellation coverage compared to the previous generation. Three microphones per earbud work alongside an AI-powered noise reduction system to isolate the wearer’s voice during calls in busy environments. Transparency Mode remains available for ambient awareness.

The earbuds retain Nothing’s transparent aesthetic while introducing refined ergonomic details and a new XS ear tip size for broader fit. The charging case has been redesigned with a rounder silhouette inspired by pill packets, featuring a 1×3 LED status light for quick reads on battery level and pairing progress. The color palette expands to four options: Black, White, an updated Yellow, and a new Pink. Battery life is rated at up to 10 hours on the earbuds and 42 hours total with the case (ANC off), dropping to 6 hours and 25 hours respectively with ANC active. A five-minute quick charge delivers approximately one hour of playback.

The Nothing Ear (3a) is available now via nothing.tech in Black, White, Yellow, and Pink starting July 7. The Phone (4b) is available in Black, White, and Blue in an 8GB + 128GB configuration.

Related Stories

>Parisians “Egg-Scape” Into Music With Kozy Café x OPPO Enco Air5s Brunch Collab

>Marshall Expands Its Home Speaker Lineup With the Acton IV and Stanmore IV

>DJI’s New AP100 Parachute Turns a Drone Freefall Into a Controlled Safe Descent

We got you covered. vapour chamber with the largest battery ever in a Nothing smartphone at 6,000mAh

We got you covered. vapour chamber with the largest battery ever in a Nothing smartphone at 6,000mAh
