class="post-summary__body">

Giannis Antetokounmpo is officially changing his jersey number from his iconic #34 to #7 following his earth-shattering trade to the Miami Heat

The number switch caught the Heat franchise by surprise, coming just hours after the team had already started selling #34 jerseys in-store and online

The Greek Freak teased the decision during a massive Kick live stream with Neon, ushering in a brand-new aesthetic for his highly anticipated Miami chapter

The NBA landscape just shifted, and the aesthetic is officially following suit. After the Miami Heat pulled off the blockbuster trade of the decade to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks, the timeline immediately had one question: what digits is the Greek Freak going to wear?

While fans initially assumed he would stick to his classic look, a change was quietly in the works. During a highly publicized live stream with Kick streamer Neon on Monday, Giannis officially confirmed the rumors: he is leaving No. 34 behind and will be rocking No. 7 as he begins his South Beach takeover.

For the entirety of his 13-year, Hall of Fame-caliber run with the Bucks, #34 was synonymous with Giannis. It was the number he won back-to-back MVPs in, the number he secured a Finals MVP in, and the number that became a massive global brand.

But joining “Heat Culture” requires a hard reset. During the stream with Neon, Giannis explained that he was looking for a fresh start, noting that #7 felt like the right move for this new era. The decision follows a legendary lineage of superstars—like LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal—who also switched their jersey numbers upon arriving in Miami to secure a championship.

The switch, however, caused a bit of chaos behind the scenes. The number change clearly arrived as a surprise to the Miami Heat front office. Shortly after the trade became official on Monday morning, the team had already started selling #34 Antetokounmpo merchandise in its online and brick-and-mortar stores. The franchise is now pivoting rapidly to fulfill orders with the new No. 7.

With the trade officially finalized and the new digits locked in, Fanatics and the Miami Heat team store are bracing for an absolute frenzy. The No. 7 Giannis jersey is unequivocally going to be the most sought-after piece of NBA merchandise this summer.

All Giannis jersey orders and personalized “ANTETOKOUNMPO” #34 jerseys will be fulfilled with the new #7.

— Miami HEAT (@MiamiHEAT) July 7, 2026

BREAKING: Giannis WILL change his jersey number pic.twitter.com/TQjjVNGcRe

— Bones🇺🇸🇵🇹🇫🇷 (@Boness305) July 6, 2026

Related Stories

                                                                            >Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale Are Slated to Join Michael Mann’s ‘Heat 2’

                                                                            >Jalen Brunson’s Game-Worn NBA Finals Jersey Sells for Record-Breaking $1 Million USD at Sotheby’s

                                                                            >Toronto Raptors Pause Blockbuster Kawhi Leonard Trade Over Ongoing NBA Investigation

We got you covered. class="post-summary__body">

We got you covered. changing his jersey number from his iconic #34 to #7 following his earth-shattering trade to the Miami Heat

Text By

        Joyce Li

    NBAMiami HeatGiannis Antetokounmpo

[analyse_source url=”https://hypebeast.com/2026/7/nba-giannis-antetokounmpo-reveals-miami-heat-jersey-number-7-change-news”]

[analyse_image type=”featured” src=”https://image-cdn.hypb.st/https%3A%2F%2Fhypebeast.com%2Fimage%2F2026%2F07%2F07%2Fnba-giannis-antetokounmpo-reveals-miami-heat-jersey-number-7-change-news-tw.jpg?w=1080&cbr=1&q=90&fit=max”] Sports Jul 7, 2026 1.3K Views 0 Comments Comments Save Text By Joyce Li Share this article John Fisher/Getty Images Sports Jul 7, 2026 1.3K Views 0 Comments Comments Save Summary Giannis Antetokounmpo is officially changing his jersey number from his iconic #34 to #7 following his earth-shattering trade to the Miami Heat The […]

[2
226,39
post-2037507","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-politics","tag-crawlmanager","tag-hypebeast-com
["GET
