Essentially, it\u2019s a development mule for the next generation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-reviews\/alpine\/a110\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"76da870d-4ac8-48f7-a883-f9c3ec6e915f\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Alpine A110\">A110<\/a>, and it\u2019s silently sweeping up the hill to give us our very first dynamic look.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>Alpine F1 driver Pierre Gasly actually piloted it on day one of the festival with the Duke of Richmond riding shotgun. Unfortunately, Pierre was asked to be rather careful with this important prototype, so we didn\u2019t quite get to see it flat out. Booo.<\/p>\n<p>Still, looks like it\u2019ll be low and wide looking, and of course <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-news\/electric\/new-alpine-a110-ev-will-get-two-electric-motors-and-two-battery-packs\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"8a948212-d70a-4b18-8438-3eaa8c36a7bc\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"The new Alpine A110 EV will get two electric motors and two battery packs\">we already knew that it was getting two electric motors on its rear axle and two separate 800-volt battery packs<\/a> to mimic the 40:60 front to rear balance of a classic mid-engined sports car. No word on whether the target weight is still 1,400kg.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>We also already knew that this new Alpine Performance Platform would underpin a convertible A110 and a 2+2 at some point in the future, but Alpine has now also let slip that it can manage all-wheel drive powertrains too with additional front motors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was great to be amongst the first to drive the future of Alpine with my run up the Goodwood Hill in the Alpine A110 Future,\u201d said Gasly. \u201cIt&#8217;s a special occasion for Alpine to unveil what is next in its range in front of such passionate fans at this event. Alpine continues to show that an electric sports car can be lighter, sharper and really enjoyable to drive.
