The company, which recently revealed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/nintendo-switch-2-replaceable-batteries-revision-plans-detailed\">it will stop selling the original Switch console in Europe starting mid-February 2027<\/a>, has clarified that it&#8217;s not ending sales everywhere else.<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/nintendo-confirms-switch-1-global-availability-after-announcing-european-withdrawal\">IGN<\/a> in a statement that sales of the Switch console outside of Europe will be unaffected. &#8220;We plan to continue selling Nintendo Switch outside of regions where <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/companies\/nintendo-of-europe\">Nintendo of Europe<\/a> conducts business,&#8221; the company said.<\/p>\n<p>As part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/news\/en\/press-room\/20240419IPR20590\/right-to-repair-making-repair-easier-and-more-appealing-to-consumers\">the European Union&#8217;s new Right to Repair rules<\/a>, manufacturers of consumer electronic devices that include batteries <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/eli\/reg\/2023\/1542\/oj\/eng\">must offer users an easy way to access and replace their devices&#8217; batteries<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nintendo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/nintendo-replacable-batteries-eu-law-switch-controller\">committed to complying with the ruling<\/a> earlier this summer, confirming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/thanks-to-eu-consumer-law-nintendo-is-updating-the-switch-2-design-to-enable-european-players-to-replace-the-battery\">it&#8217;s working on new designs for Switch 2 and its accessories<\/a> to allow players to replace the batteries. The new designs have since been announced, and will be rolling out at various points throughout the year and into the early parts of 2027.
