Due to scorching temperatures, it was moved to the earlier start time of 9am, meaning guests received a thumping wake-up call from Fred Again, who curated the soundtrack. Today (July 6), the Northern Irish designer delivered his sophomore Dior haute couture show \u2013 and the soundtrack couldn\u2019t have been further from Fred Again\u2019s high-BPM club mix.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Ambient rainforest sounds and meditative music doubled up as a sound bath, lulling attendees into fashion hypnosis. Inside the impressive rectangular space \u2013 erected in a corner of the Tuileries \u2013 tree ferns covered the runway, like a Dior reimagining of Maurice Sendak\u2019s <\/span><em><span>Where the Wild Things Are.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Anderson\u2019s starting point this season was the work of pioneering American artist, Lynda Benglis, known for her \u201cpoured\u201d or \u201cfallen\u201d paintings, and for redefining sculpture during the late 1960s. \u201cWhat I love about Lynda is that there is something which has a spontaneous joy, but at the same time, it\u2019s muscular,\u201d explained Anderson. From metallic, sculptural clutch bags, to multicoloured oil slick patterns, Benglis\u2019 influence was carried throughout the collection. He\u2019s not beating those allegations of being fashion\u2019s busiest man anytime soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1>360 MILLION\u00a0<\/h1>\n<p><span>The number of years that tree ferns have existed on earth. They\u2019re one of the planet\u2019s oldest plants, dating back long before the dinosaurs. In 2015, Lynda Benglis revealed a new sculptural work, <\/span><em><span>Tree Fern,<\/span><\/em><span> developed from handmade paper and chicken-wire. The same styles were dotted throughout the collection seven times, some appearing in dark silver \u2013 like corrugated iron \u2013 and others like delicate gold leaf that could blow off at any moment. Again, you only need to glance at Bengis\u2019 work to get the reference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1>2 DIOR BRIDES<\/h1>\n<p><span>As is typical of haute couture shows, the collection\u2019s closing look was a wedding dress, decorated with delicate lace ferns. It may have been the only bridal look in the show, but it\u2019s the second Anderson wedding dress of the week. This weekend, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/taylor-swift\"><span>Taylor Swift<\/span><\/a><span> and Travis Kelce finally tied the knot, with Swift turning to Anderson to create a custom gown for the occasion. Potentially inspired by Benglis\u2019 1990 steel sculpture, <\/span><em><span>Scarab, <\/span><\/em><span>the clutch bag is a cute take on the artwork. Due to scorching temperatures, it was moved to the earlier start time of 9am, meaning guests received a thumping wake-up call from Fred Again, who curated the soundtrack. Today (July 6), the Northern Irish designer delivered his sophomore Dior haute couture show \u2013 and the soundtrack couldn\u2019t have been further from Fred Again\u2019s high-BPM club mix.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Ambient rainforest sounds and meditative music doubled up as a sound bath, lulling attendees into fashion hypnosis. Inside the impressive rectangular space \u2013 erected in a corner of the Tuileries \u2013 tree ferns covered the runway, like a Dior reimagining of Maurice Sendak\u2019s <\/span><em><span>Where the Wild Things Are.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Anderson\u2019s starting point this season was the work of pioneering American artist, Lynda Benglis, known for her \u201cpoured\u201d or \u201cfallen\u201d paintings, and for redefining sculpture during the late 1960s. \u201cWhat I love about Lynda is that there is something which has a spontaneous joy, but at the same time, it\u2019s muscular,\u201d explained Anderson. From metallic, sculptural clutch bags, to multicoloured oil slick patterns, Benglis\u2019 influence was carried throughout the collection. He\u2019s not beating those allegations of being fashion\u2019s busiest man anytime soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1>360 MILLION\u00a0<\/h1>\n<p><span>The number of years that tree ferns have existed on earth. They\u2019re one of the planet\u2019s oldest plants, dating back long before the dinosaurs. In 2015, Lynda Benglis revealed a new sculptural work, <\/span><em><span>Tree Fern,<\/span><\/em><span> developed from handmade paper and chicken-wire. The same styles were dotted throughout the collection seven times, some appearing in dark silver \u2013 like corrugated iron \u2013 and others like delicate gold leaf that could blow off at any moment. Again, you only need to glance at Bengis\u2019 work to get the reference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1>2 DIOR BRIDES<\/h1>\n<p><span>As is typical of haute couture shows, the collection\u2019s closing look was a wedding dress, decorated with delicate lace ferns. It may have been the only bridal look in the show, but it\u2019s the second Anderson wedding dress of the week. This weekend, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/taylor-swift\"><span>Taylor Swift<\/span><\/a><span> and Travis Kelce finally tied the knot, with Swift turning to Anderson to create a custom gown for the occasion.
