\n\tWhen Osborne pushed Albanese \u2014 married to Jodie Haydon for six months \u2014 into placing Minogue, Nicole Kidman and Rhonda Burchmore into the categories, he initially resisted before landing on Minogue for the sweep. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cKylie, clearly,\u201d he said, before confirming: \u201call of the above\u2026 She\u2019s terrific.\u201d Osborne also asked whether Albanese and his wife were \u201cbonking like rabbits,\u201d to which he replied: \u201cWell, when we have time. After the footy. It\u2019s always a good aphrodisiac, a Souths win.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe comments drew criticism over the weekend from politicians across the aisle, including independent MP Zali Steggall, who told The Australian it was \u201centirely inappropriate for the prime minister to participate in such a game\u201d and that he should have \u201cpush[ed] back, le[d] by example and call[ed] it out as sexist.\u201d Liberal shadow minister Sarah Henderson called the remarks \u201cdisrespectful to women, embarrassing to Australians, and demean the office of Prime Minister,\u201d while Liberal frontbencher Andrew Bragg said they were \u201cbeneath his office.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlbanese\u2019s office responded Monday morning with a one-line statement: \u201cI apologise unequivocally for the comments.\u201d Labor minister Tanya Plibersek defended him without having heard the interview, telling Channel Seven that being \u201ca fan of Kylie Minogue\u2026 puts him in a group with millions of other Australians, including me.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tActing PM Richard Marles noted the podcast format was simply \u201cdifferent\u201d from Albanese\u2019s usual media appearances, pointing to the government\u2019s gender-equality record in cabinet and caucus representation.<\/p>\n

\n\tMinogue remains one of the most enduring artists in Billboard chart history. She first hit the Hot 100 in 1988 with \u201cThe Loco-Motion\u201d (No. 3, 27 weeks on the chart) and returned to the top 10 in 2002 with \u201cCan\u2019t Get You Out of My Head\u201d (No. 7, 20 weeks), the lead single from Fever<\/em>, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 \u2014 her career-best chart placement. <\/p>\n

\n\tShe has logged 11 total titles on the Billboard 200, including 2010\u2019s Aphrodite<\/em> (No. 19), and 18 entries on Billboard\u2019s Hot Dance\/Electronic Songs chart, among them \u201cDance Alone\u201d with Sia (No. 8). Her 2023 comeback single \u201cPadam Padam\u201d peaked at No. 7 on Hot Dance\/Electronic Songs and became the first track to win the Grammy for Best Pop Dance Recording; it also reached No. 32 on Pop Airplay, her first appearance on that chart in nearly two decades. She is also set to headline the AFL Grand Final in September.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
