Mercedes\u2019 latest power unit upgrade, CEO Zak Brown has revealed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mercedes debuted its latest specification engine on works drivers George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli\u2019s cars at the Austrian Grand Prix last time out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new power unit does not feature any performance-related upgrades but does have modified batteries in a bid to improve reliability He needed an engine change. I don\u2019t recall exactly the scenario but I think you\u2019ve got two of them. So, it\u2019s just a timing sequence.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The reigning world champion squad is yet to win a race in 2026, with Mercedes taking seven victories and Ferrari scoring the only non-Mercedes grand prix win so far this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Brown is confident McLaren will catch its rivals with planned developments in the pipeline.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have some work to do,\u201d he admitted. \u201cWe will catch up. So, it\u2019s just a timing sequence.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The reigning world champion squad is yet to win a race in 2026, with Mercedes taking seven victories and Ferrari scoring the only non-Mercedes grand prix win so far this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Brown is confident McLaren will catch its rivals with planned developments in the pipeline.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have some work to do,\u201d he admitted. \u201cWe will catch up.
