Athlete, model, actor — it’s all fair game for Evan Mock. More than several titles tend to follow him, but none can quite capture the full picture. Having skated his way on screen and onto fashion’s biggest runways, Mock belongs to a generation redefining creative success, putting culture before expectation. Whether he’s on set, on a deck, or online with friends, it’s all part of how he plays.

But for the Oahu-born star, it all comes back to the ocean. “Every place I’ve ever lived was on the coast,” Mock tells Hypebeast. Nowadays he’s all over the world, locking in the line on the streets of New York or suited up on the red carpet. Yet his early days keep him grounded, and his connection to the coast is never too far.

Ringing in Turtle Beach’s new Pacific Skyline Controller, for this installment of Streetsnaps, We joined Mock for a drive along the PCH to learn more about his cross-creative practice, his gamer side, and what it means to be “Seriously Unserious” in a world that too often demands the opposite.

“When I think of coastal energy, I think of the water, how I grew up on the beach. Even still, they’re some of my favorite memories,” he reflects. “My little brother and I would run over to my cousin’s house and play his Xbox. Growing up being homeschooled, [gaming] was a huge motivation to get our school work done.”

A Pacific Skyline Controller hangs from the rearview, the sea’s just beyond the cliffs, and we’re checking off the boxes for Mock’s perfect coastline trip: “Classic car. Classic song. Driving down the highway with people you enjoy being around.”

There’s no better place to bring Turtle Beach’s latest drop to life. Inspired by the slow life, the piece nods to the brand’s San Diego roots and trades tactical aesthetics for a softer, more laid-back approach, wrapped in palm tree motifs, dreamy pinks, aquatic blues, and customizable lighting. Mock arrives on the journey dressed in complementary pastels, looking at home in the controller’s West Coast palette.

Gear isn’t just a hardware game anymore. Ushering in its new lifestyle chapter, Turtle Beach’s new rollout is about more than just performance, but creating a controller that’s tapped into culture across the board — fashion, sport, design — equally suited to elevate your at-home setup and your everyday fits.

If there’s a thread through it all, it’s the freedom to follow what feels right. It’s the energy behind the brand’s “Seriously Unserious” mantra. Chasing a feeling, seeing where it takes you. Even in gaming, the rules, after all, are made to be rewritten. If you’re still waiting for the green light, take it from Mock: “Stop asking for permission.”
