  • MoMA PS1 Inaugurates New Courtyard Commission Program with Precious Okoyomon: <\/strong>The Long Island City institution has launched an annual Courtyard Commission program, with its first edition going to Nigerian-American artist and poet Precious Okoyomon. The forest installation opens July 24.<\/li>\n
  • Standard (Oslo) Announces Representation of Munan \u00d8vrelid: <\/strong>The Oslo-based gallery has added the Norwegian painter to its roster. He holds an MFA from the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art and has shown at the National Museum Oslo, Kunstnernes Hus, and Galeria Luisa Strina.<\/li>\n
  • Sara O\u2019Keeffe Named Director and Curator of Public Engagement and Research at ICA Philadelphia:<\/strong> The accomplished curator joins the Institute of Contemporary Art at the University of Pennsylvania from Art Omi, where she served as Senior Curator.<\/li>\n
  • Frye Art Museum and Assembly Art Fair Launch Acquisition Initiative: <\/strong>The Seattle institution will acquire a work from Assembly Art Fair\u2019s inaugural edition for its permanent collection. The acquisition, to be selected by Director and Curator of Collections Faith Brower, will enter the museum\u2019s 75th anniversary \u201cRecent Acquisitions\u201d show in 2027.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n

    \n\t\tThe Big Number: $126,285\t<\/h2>\n

    \n\tThat\u2019s the\u00a0combined total<\/strong>\u00a0at Christie\u2019s for its most recent\u00a0online sale of artworks from the collection\u00a0of Anita and Chaim \u201cPoju\u201d Zabludowicz. The total was well below the estimate range of \u00a3292,000 to \u00a3435,400 ($385,100\u2013$574,200), and over half of the 44 artworks\u00a0on\u00a0offer failed to sell. It\u2019s an abysmal result for Christie\u2019s\u2014which marketed the sale as \u201ca thoughtful edit by collectors preparing to hand the baton\u00a0to their four children\u201d\u2014and for the Zabludowiczes, who were rumored to be selling due to years of strain between them and members of the art world over their ties to Israel.<\/p>\n

    \n\tWith Sotheby\u2019s London\u00a0double-header sale last week an\u00a0unqualified success<\/strong>\u2014generating \u00a3393.4 million\u00a0($520.7 million), or the \u201chighest total ever achieved in a single night at auction\u00a0in Europe,\u201d according to the house\u2014its European chairman\u00a0Oliver Barker is taking a victory lap in the press.\u00a0On\u00a0Monday,\u00a0the\u00a0Telegraph<\/em>\u00a0published<\/strong>\u00a0a lengthy profile and interview with the star auctioneer, detailing his (somewhat) humble beginnings in Battersea, London; his decades-long career at Sotheby\u2019s; and, of course, his thoughts\u00a0on\u00a0a number of topics pressing to the art world. It\u2019s a rare window into\u00a0one of the most prominent people working behind the rostrum today.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
