Playsport Games understands this better than anyone, that it\u2019s just as engrossing to be on the pitwall as in the cockpit. An understanding they proved it with 2016\u2019s magnificent\u00a0<em>Motorsport Manager<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A full decade on, the announcement of\u00a0<em>Motorsport Manager 2<\/em> is a rather big deal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We haven\u2019t been starved, exactly, for virtual team principal work in the interim. Frontier\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.topgear.com\/car-news\/gaming\/f1-manager-24-review-fully-featured-a-bargain-price\" target=\"_blank\">fantastic\u00a0<em>F1 Manager<\/em> games<\/a> let us scratch many of the same itches, from choosing tire strategies to allocating wind tunnel time and negotiating driver contracts. And even though the latter featured an official F1 license and fancy graphics, mechanically it leaned heavily on Playsport\u2019s blueprint.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Plus, oddly enough, the official-ness of it all actually made for less of a compelling sandbox. Real drivers, real rules, real cost caps \u2013 not much mucking about, just for a laugh.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In short, we\u2019ve missed this series. But we don\u2019t need to feel its absence for much longer: the rights to the PC version have recently been reacquired by Playsport, and the first thing they\u2019ve done is announce they\u2019re working on a new one, due in 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You can have a look at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/faniqfW6ZAw?si=Yz98tlMukoS7bcc4\" target=\"_blank\">teaser trailer<\/a>, although fair warning, emphasis on\u00a0<em>teaser<\/em>. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/4745600\/Motorsport_Manager_2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Steam store page<\/a> is also up, where you can find all the info that\u2019s currently been revealed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe sequel is designed as an evolution of the series, not a reinvention,\u201d reads the announcement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe core fantasy remains clear: build the team, improve the machinery, hire the right people, and go racing. Motorsport Manager 2 expands that foundation with more depth, more freedom, and a more reactive motorsport world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">GT, endurance and single-seater categories have all been mentioned, with more to come. There\u2019ll be mod support from day one \u2013 a very big feature, given how passionately the community\u2019s supported the first game \u2013 and the game promises more tactical action on race days, and more customisation and \u2018what if\u2019 scenario creation in the options.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cA major focus for <em>Motorsport Manager 2<\/em> is delivering a more dynamic and believable race experience,\u201d say Playsport.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cTeams will react more intelligently to what is happening on track, adjusting strategy in response to changing conditions, pit stops, rivals, and opportunities. A new weather simulation introduces more varied and dramatic race-day decision-making, with conditions that can change across different parts of the circuit rather than simply applying to the whole track at once.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Off-track, the absence of licenses means players are free to make their own teams, drivers, and championship categories. That\u2019s the bit we particularly like the sound of. Extreme 48-hour endurance series, anyone? Featuring all your old secondary school teachers?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Our best experiences with 2016\u2019s\u00a0<em>Motorsport Manager\u00a0<\/em>were tied to that unlicensed, player-led storytelling. The relationships formed with utterly fictional drivers. The gradual, diligent progress of our fictional minnow team through the categories. That one race where it alternated between monsoon and dry conditions every five laps.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">So to us, it sounds like Playsport\u2019s leaning into the real strengths of the series. We absolutely can\u2019t wait to hear more. In fact, we refuse to wait. Tell us more.
