What do you do with your bike rack when you\u2019re not using it to haul bikes to the trailhead? This is a question I\u2019ve asked myself many times over the years. <\/p>\n

The 1UP USA Rack Stash is a simple wall-mounted accessory that is designed to store your bike rack when it\u2019s not in use. The mount fits either a 1.25\u2033 or 2\u2033 receiver, so it works with any rack, and installation is simple.<\/p>\n

Fits any hitch rack<\/h2>\n

1UP USA is known for producing high-quality hitch-mounted bike racks, and over the years, the brand has developed a cult following with their no-touch Quik Rack. But the Rack Stash is designed to fit any standard hitch-mounted bike rack with either a 1.25\u2033 or 2\u2033 shank. As you can see in the photo above, it holds this Inno rack just fine.<\/p>\n

Three lag bolts secure the Rack Stash to any wall or vertical surface. You\u2019ll want to make sure the bolts are anchored to a stud to support the weight of a heavy rack. I mounted mine to the outside of a storage shed for easy access to my vehicle. 1UP says the Rack Stash can hold racks that weigh up to 90lb, which is enough to support the company\u2019s four-bike rack.<\/p>\n

To adjust the Rack Stash to fit a 1.25\u2033 shank instead of a 2\u2033 shank as shown in these photos, simply remove the bolts on either side of the mount, flip the red metal inserts, and re-secure them with the bolts.<\/p>\n

Depending on your garage situation, you can either store the rack horizontally as shown here, or vertically to free up additional wall space. There are cutouts on the sides of the Rack Stash to hold various hitch accessories, like a hitch ball shank. The cutouts could also be useful for looping a cable lock to keep your rack secure if it\u2019s stored outdoors like mine.<\/p>\n

Compared to my old solution \u2014 hanging the rack on a set of ladder hooks mounted to the wall \u2014 the 1UP Rack Stash is a much cleaner solution. Since it works just like the hitch receiver on my car, it\u2019s easy to move from the mount to the vehicle and back again without setting the rack down.<\/p>\n
